Just got back into riding, and the first thing I did was start buying crap for the bike.
I ordered a crash bar and highway pegs right off, then a co2 inflator kit to throw in the saddle bags.
Don’t forget the trauma kit. The life you save may be your own (or that of another). Be safe out there. I began riding after a 20+ year layoff and the landscape on the roads is entirely different now. There’s no such thing as being too defensive.

I bought this to carry with me. It was on sale for around $50. So far it works decent for topping off my tires and I can charge it from my usb port on the bike if necessary. I also carry plugs, co2 kit, and a compact bicycle hand pump... that's probably overboard but I like back up options.

What's the deal with giant furry helmets?

Looks like those would have a terrible drag and be quite loud.

    And stupid looking.

Hey if you want a get a really expensive version of the v-strom... BMW has you covered with the new GS1300...

To me, they killed the iconic look of the previous generations of the GS, I'm not a fan.
About 9HP increase and some 26lbs weight reduction... not really worth it, I'm going to be keeping my R1250.

I don't know, even though the comments section roasted it pretty badly, I don't think it's THAT bad. I mean, aren't ALL adv bikes pretty homely/fugly/dopey looking?? I know for a fact that our Strombolis will NEVER win a beauty contest!!!!!!

I guess it would be "not bad" if it was something recent and didn't just throw out decades of a very successful style.
It doesn't make me want to take the leap to that generation. I think it's getting pretty well panned by the traditionalists, which is where I fall.
You can see a current generation GS coming down the road and know what it is, this thing? "Is that a ducatiMS??, A suzuki??"

The frame and rear end just looks "cheap" and plastic, although I know it isn't. It probably is cheaper to produce.
The triple black looks the best because it hides it better than the rallys etc.

The headlight is just a travesty.
They could have kept the approach radar gadget, just moved it down and put a more GS traditional LED light above and been miles ahead in the styling.

I would agree... Im not a fan of the style but the adjustable ride height and the power windshield would be welcome features on my 2018 r1200gsa.

I had power windshield on my LT and GT, while cool, I didn't use it that much, once I got my smooth air pocket I just left it alone.
