I have CC for years and years and been good with it. Recently, I walked into a grocery store just as I have hundreds of times before. As I approached the door, for some reason, my "spidey sense" went into overdrive. A ragged looking guy was walking out swearing like a sailor and yelling that he was going to "get even with those a$$holes". While nothing happened, it made me think about how long it would take to draw my weapon from a CC position versus an OC position if I had needed to do so. After considering the options, I have switched to OC using a IWB holster. In warmer months, I do not wear a jacket or over shirt, so the butt of the gun is visible. I guess that would still be considered OC even though the rig is not fully exposed. All I know is that should I ever need it (God forbid), I can deploy it much quicker.

So far as the public goes, I am not overly concerned about their general opinion. If they are uncomfortable with it, that is their problem, not mine. Safety and survival is not a popularity contest.

I am of the same opinion as the host. I don’t want those conversations but I don’t begrudge the people that help promote the lifestyle and 2a. I also don’t need any tactical disadvantages in a high stress situation I would prefer the same element of surprise that the bad guy gave me. I carry concealed 90% of the time.

We will discuss vigorously in the future as well. If I carried a Sig 1911 I might open carry more too ;)
Maybe not. I carry my Sig Fastback concealed as I have all handguns for over 40 years. Everybody can do what they want and I hope nobody ever finds out they were right or wrong.

Here are the typical open carriers, as always demanding everyone's attention. LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME!

A buddy of mine called me a few years ago after he went thru an experience that made me question open carry. He was in Walmart, open carrying, and he said he heard a woman in a panic saying “he has a gun”. Turns around and this woman is staring and pointing straight at him. He said the place was not busy at all, a few other patrons looked their way, saw him, saw her, and went about their business. He said he calmly walked up to the checkout line, paid, and got out of there.

This moron could have easily created a panic in a crowded place.

I like his first point regarding sloppy carry. There are some out there that are a danger to themselves and others with an accidental discharge.
Otherwise, I like the idea of getting the public used to seeing guns so as to take the negative connotation away.

I get notices on my Citizen app all the time that just say "Report of man armed with a gun." Nothing else - not that he was attacking anyone or waving the gun around, etc.. Just that he was armed. Then I got to thinking, I wonder if anyone has reported me for being "armed with a gun". :):

Sloppy under a tshirt is as bad as sloppy for the world to see. Thank goodness you can’t hook a nylon holster to pajama pants
