"On television news, anchors refer to the school shootings as “unavoidable,” as if such mass shootings are the bastard children born of hurricanes and snowstorms."

"Assault weapons—just like armor-piercing bullets, machine guns, and plastic firearms—are a new topic. The weapons' menacing looks, coupled with the public's confusion over fully automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons—anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun—can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons. In addition, few people can envision a practical use for these weapons."

To all illiterate people of the youth, democrats, liberals, conservatives and the likes. Stop watching CNN, draw your own conclusions. Be a leader, not a sheep. Otherwise, fall on the sword.

Just my two cents, watch cnn all you want, just know it’s entertainment not news.

I’m **** sure not a Dem. Or a Lib. Or illiterate I watch it along with all the other entertainment news programs, but I also watch the new Night Court sitcom.

Only an idiot thinks any of that stuff is real news. And google ain’t knowledge. Again my two cents.

An "Assault Rifle" is presumably a select-fire weapon employing a medium cartridge, such as an M16A[1,2,3,4]. I had several occasions early in my 21 year career wearing a green suit in which I was very glad to have been schlepping around an M16A1 with a basic load.

One of them was an event I can acknowledge U.S. involvement now as it's public knowledge, called Shaba II, in the Zairean Province of Shaba, Congo Basin, central Africa. It was a joint operation with Belgian and French military, plus Morocco. Mbumba, who led a Congolese revolutionary organization (FLNC), had invaded from neighboring Angola (with Cuban support). He was ruthless and murderous, devoid of any morals, humanity or any regard for human life. Zaire's President Mobutu wasn't an angel either, having orchestrated two coups to eventually take power of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which he renamed Zaire, in the latter 1960's. He was better than many of the alternatives though, with France, Belgium, the U.S. and a few other western countries supporting him politically to keep him and his country out of the Cuban sphere, acting as a Soviet proxy in Africa (look up Che Guevara). Mbumba had taken well over 2,000 Europeans living in the Kolwezi mining region, plus many Zairians hostage, and was systematically executing them. Most of the Europeans and Zaireans were rescued and evacuated . . . but not before Mbumba murdered 80 Europeans and about 200 Zairians.

The French with the Belgians had the lead in the overall operation. The bulk of U.S. forces were USAF to handle mass evacuation lift. However, the USAF didn't have personnel available at the drop of a hat with some critical skills and equipment needed. We were sent to fill that void. More than that I'm not going to discuss. The M16A1 "Assault Rifle" was put to use to protect what we were doing to support the USAF, and without us having "Assault Rifles" we would have been in much more than mere mortal peril.

It was after I returned home from nam. I was backpacking out west trying to visit war buddies when a small town sheriff started harassing me for no reason. Ended up arrested for vagrancy. The police beat me and tried to kill me so I broke out. They chased me into the mountains hunting me. I had to fight for my life and the rest is history.

Of course by OPs logic, we dont need a fire extinguisher either. Ive never had a fire at home, so I dont need an extinguisher, right?

And as others have commented on his work in this thread. If he responds to all the posts in a civil manner IN DETAIL (not one or two line throwaway comments) , he'll be in the classifieds in no time.

I hope he returns and maintains a cool head. Its nice to have differing opinions here. It would be really boring if it were the echo chamber outsiders think it is.

I just hope he’s proud of how the little spawn of a thread he has started has grown. That should count for something.
Like, at least, if he does come back but behaves the same don’t shooter him right off the bat! Let us catch up!

    And here we go..
    the atf is disciplined?

Sure. I mean, they'll shoot your dog or your kids, but they won't call you a d**chebag.
It's not like they're megalomaniacal villains or demagogic booger rollers.....
    They know their limits...
