My sister did the genealogy thing with a company.

Results came back that she is my half sister. Mom would have some explaining to do if she were still here.

I did not and will not do the check. I don't care enough about my family. Don't talk to my birth father, mom is gone and my sister is a halfsie. Doesn't matter to me because I have my wife and two kids. That's all the family I need to know about.

It is good that they found this guy, but again... do the results justify the means in all cases?

So if one of my dumbass relatives voluntarily sends in their DNA am I now tangentially in the database?

Government narrows down their DNA search to a specific family and then simply investigates all 15 members of the family?
Or in this case, just pick the one family member that happens to drive the kind of car they were looking for and lives 15 minutes from the crime scene.

Grew up with a pair of boys whose dad told them to not date girls from a specific area in the next county over. He did have stray dog tendencies when he was younger.

This has got me thinking, every year I go to the Dr. for an annual physical, the lab work I have done involves a blood draw, am I now in a DNA database?

It's not their loss of privacy, it's mine. I didn't send anything in to any database, but they can use it to find me just fine.
Sure. If you leave DNA at the scene of a crime and you have a relative that sent in their DNA sample to one of these companies, the police might get a warrant and find out someone in your family might be the suspect.

For me, license plate readers and facial recognition combined with the proliferation of cameras are much bigger problems for privacy.

    No.

At least not from your annual blood draw.

But there is a fair chance that DNA provided by a family member of yours to some ancestry website, that is close to yours, exists on a database.

. If your Dr. orders that test
. If someone else with the authority orders the test
. If they keep a sample of your blood for future testing they have it by default or proxy
. If .gov wants your DNA bad enough for any reason they already have it.

Privacy and the right to be left alone is under assault from all directions. In the end TPTB have no end to their desire for control of the individual…

Having your DNA and having it in a database are two very different things.

All of them are massive 4th Amendment violations and turnkey dictatorship tools.

No, it means ancest. dot com is a shill co. for uncle suger. As I’ve suspected from day one. The feds will not be happy until they can follow every person born in the country 24/7/365 from day of birth to day of death.

It's a shill company for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints....and it's not even a secret.

Works for me, think I forgot that, but a shill is a shill, and there are a bunch of those companies out now and the point is still valid in my opinion. But what do I care. :wavey:

Not gonna argue you win, I’m wrong. Now do you feel all better?

Do you realize that you shed DNA all day everywhere you go? From bodily fluids to hair and skin we are DNA shedding machines. So now we do not go to the doctor for fear they will use our DNA beyond what we expect?
