I'm not clear at all where an FFL came into this discussion?
I was responding to what Sigblitz said & he mentioned FFL twice.
    See below:

"Though you may be on legal footing, the ATF would visit your FFL and then your home if even your gun case was in possession of a prohibited person. They will ask you to show them other firearms that were recorded on the FFL log."

Which is why I quoted him and not you.

And I still have no idea how an FFL came into the equation.

Another vote for "your item, your rules."

Hell, if you insisted that the buyer own a full set of the Hardees Singing Raisins toys to purchase, you are allowed to do so.

Ask them if they're a resident of this state (?),
and ask them if they're prohibited from owning firearms (?).
    If they answer "yes",
    then "no",
and you have no reason to believe they lied, you've met your burden as the Seller.

Though it doesn't hurt to ask them to flash their driver's license without recording anything to confirm residency.

It wasn't part of the question. Someone mentioned prohibited person. That is what will happen if a prohibited person is caught with a gun, it is traced and investigated. Edit to answer dg, they will look at recent buying history at FFL office and this is what usually targets a home visit. Lots of recent buys with a prohibited person having possession of one looks like straw purchase, so they'll check it out.

If you buy and sell a lot, stay here and do it. Just my 2 cents.

I think you are absolutely right.

At the same time, every restriction a seller puts on runs the risk of having their add overlooked out of principle. "Bill of sale," "pics of your LTCH and DL," "FFL," "firm," "won't travel" etc, etc, are all subject to the seller's whim. The seller needs to understand though that if any restriction turns what might have been a good deal into a PIA for the buyer, it had better be very well priced or it will squander.

BTW - I still have that same 10' jon boat that I've tried to sell on here year after year. The unused motorcycle pants also. No LTCH or DL required for purchase!

Unless things have drastically changed in law enforcement within the last 10 or so years at most you get (at least locally) is a phone call.

"Do you still own a firearm with the serial number XXXXXX?"

    No sir, I sold it.

"Do you have a record of who you sold it to?"

It was traded to a local gun store with an FFL

    "Okay, have a nice day"

-actual conversation from a friend of mine who previously owned a Glock that was found at a crime scene.

Not gonna bother most of the time. Might want to know for high dollar items or ARs and the like.

Since giving up on Armslist I've mostly only sold to INGOers and have never had an issue with sketch. Half the time it's a familiar face from a match, and already packing a gun on their hip.

    Yep.

I don't sell to anyone I think may be homosexual or "trans".

Just part of the reason I refuse to sell to the "trans community"...

I like how you just turned this conversation to “and this is why we should open carry, kids”.

OC solves as many problems as acting as an agent of the state, promoting more statism, and stoking the fear of the state by requiring the showing of a little pink permission slip.

I’m not their cop. Don’t give me a reason to think you’re prohibited and were gtg.

I have commented before that if I was an anti gunner, I would point to the INGO... why look there, even the hoosier gun owners all agree that we need additional gun control including universal background checks.
