YES!! I went with indy1919a4 (a seasoned auction goer). It was eye opening and mind-blowing. I picked up a couple of Swedish Mausers and 1 or 2 ammo lots I think.
That is getting to be a long time ago. I remember a lot of the Johnson Rifles went home with a dude from Alaska.

Is it just me or does it appear that most gun shops in my area have three times as many semi auto as revolvers. The ones that are there are fairly pricey also.

I, too, see the differences in stocked firearms, but I also see the increase in demand for semi-auto pistols, especially in 9mm, as people have a strong desire for higher capacity rather than discuss a better performing caliber, especially when it limits one's carry load to just 5-6 rounds!
Had this discussion with a buddy yesterday regarding this exact issue...higher carry capacity vs better performing caliber.
Me, personally, prefer a revolver, but living out in the county vs in a city (much less a larger city, such as Indianapolis) and am comfortable with a .38 or .357 magnum revolver as an EDC, for most situations, rather than a 9mm, .40 S&W, or .45 acp.
    When on dad's farm, or mom's farm, either one, I'm comfortable with a snub-nosed J-Frame or SP101!

I know it was the collection of a guy out in Greenfield that had been killed by his wife and she later committed suicide or something?

It was a long time ago. I first met him (indy1919a4) in 2013 I think, and it wasn't long after that.
I was a newbie on INGO at the time, I saw a lot of guns go WAY over what they should have at that auction.

That makes two auctions we were at and didn't see each other. Although the second one in 2019 (Christie's on the south side) we did know each other at that point.

I think that may have been the one that I brought my grandson to. Indy was there too, and he was trying to get me to have my grandson place bids so that other bidders would have sympathy for a kid and let him win. :lmfao:

I feel that in the last...16 years (since I turned 21) revolvers have become noticeably more rare. I feel like it was totally common to find GP100s, SP101s, 686s, 629s, used K frames, and the like in gun shops. Even if it was only one of each, you had a few choices for medium/large revolvers in addition the the lightweight J frames.

Now, I tend to see SP101s, J frames, Taurus, LCRs, and a vintage Smith in a presentation case. Wheel gun fans are for sure still out there, but they don't seem to be going to shops to demand lots of new manufacture guns. Lots seem to be happy with their vintage Smiths and Colts. Though, with Colt getting back into DA revolvers recently, I have seen a few of those lately.

I feel like showing off, so here's my father's old S&W 10-5 (PPC style), and my Redhawk.

I'm getting to the point where I think I may want a nice 3" 686 Plus... I've been a Ruger fan since the late '80's. I've owned 10+ GP100's (in various barrel lengths and sight setups) and have a few S&W J-Frame revolvers...but a 686+ would be a unique toy to have around...???

I have a 3" 686+ in my headboard. Nice gun, but I really like my 3" 66 w/ combat grips. Shoots great. In fact, I will shoot the 66 October 9th at Wildcat Valley for their ICORE Snubby match. Snub-nose revolvers w/ 3" or less barrels. The 686 is too heavy for their stated limit, but the 66 will be fun to shoot. Some of you should bring out your snubbies and join the fun. The scoring is set up to favor 5-shot guns in order to offset the advantage of the 6-shot revolvers. All you guys with five or six shot snubbies should bring them out for some practice. They put on great ICORE matches. Check out the link for details:

I attended that auction, only deals I found were on magazines and ammo. Really had to watch the shilling, it was the worst I've ever seen.
I’m tired of the obvious shilling at these local auctions. Perhaps a complaint with the state’s consumer complaints office is in order. It borders, no, probably does rise to the level of fraud and deception. Hmmmm!
