This would be such an easy outbreak to stop. But the high risk behavior cannot be called out as such and absolutely NO shaming of anyone for continuing to engage in said behavior.

Same could be said for any STD, but monkeypox goes away in a few weeks with no treatment which makes it different. Literally a few weeks of monogamy would stop it. Not even "no sex". Just monogamy.

Yes, you can get it from non-intimate contact with an infected individual or even fluids left for some time on clothing and surfaces (don't know the specifics of how long that would be.) So, while the horror stories we've been hearing were probably from intimate contact (oral and anal lesion's,) secondary and tertiary infections could be from less intimate contact.

The message of avoiding intimate contact with strangers should have been put out in May when it started, not now, 2 1/2 months, and thousands of people infected.

Think of a rave, or spring break beach party. All those people dancing around, rubbing shoulder to shoulder with each other. That's the kind of environment where a virus or infection spread through bodily contact with open infected sores can happen.

This is just the first video I found demonstrating what I'm talking about.

BTW, I heard there was a big uproar at the last latest scare over folks that would not submit. Exemptions were granted to some who could demonstrate they were not a risk.

That guy is a big advocate for LGBT issues. Surely the population will listen to him when he urgently pleased from monogamy or abstinence in order to stop monkeypox, the virus we could stop in 6 weeks with the above actions.

Unfortunately, I suspect they were request federal dollars, and vaccine clinics rather than focused measures to limit contact.

It's not okay to speak out against promiscuity.
