Got ghosted for the first time today.

Case in point for why the 50 Post Rule is a good idea.
Made a deal yesterday to sell a pistol yesterday.

First he says at 5:13pm "I have xxx$ cash and can come right now.".
We agree to meet when he can get here.

THEN at 5:29pm he ("Ethanm317" for the benefit of others who may consider dealing with him in the future) asked if we could meet today instead.
    I said OK.
We agreed on a place between 11am and noon, and he would text me when he was on the way.

It's now 12:20pm and I've texted him twice to see if we're still on and he appears to have ghosted me.

THEN I see that he just joined INGO in December and is a Site Supporter with ZERO messages.

I'll do a better job of looking at potential buyer's Post Count in the future...

Check posts to see what they are like, check feedback especially to see who they have feedback from.

It's not that I won't deal with a new member, I was lucky and found someone to sell to not long after I joined, but you just weigh the chance of something like your experience happening and most of the time the person who actually belongs to INGO will win out if deciding who to deal with. Big difference between belonging to and using INGO.

Stuff does happen that can cause a missed meet, but honest communication needs to happen.

I've been gradually selling off my collection on INGO for several years, and EVERYBODY, including some with low post counts have been good.
    That is til today.
His username is "Ethanm317", and don't be surprised if he wastes your time as well as the buyers in line after him who were prepared to buy.

This is a YUUUUUGE red flag for me. Anyone that is so eager to have my whatever that they want it 5 minutes ago just doesnt sit well with me. It screams "Im desperate and you are the only one stupid enough to sell to me. I need to get it in my hands before you change your mind. "

I'll admit I once had a classified lurker beat another regular by an hour. Because he used that language, I passed. The sense of desperation was something that just didnt sit well with me.

What's so stupid is, if he'd had a legitimate reason he couldn't make it at today's time either, all he had to do was talk to me.
But instead he just ghosted me.

Contrary to a lot of other's bad experiences, I have had mostly good luck with low post count folks and newbies.

When I see they are inexperienced with INGO, I take control of the trade.

Also take extra measures that I might not with a known INGOer...
    - Just so we're clear, You are giving me an "I'll take it."
    - The negotiations are over and you will be meeting me with correct change at...
    - You will be bringing your DL and LTCH for me to verify proper person status.
    - Here is my number, please TXT me. No more PM conversation after this.

I ALWAYS try to err on the side of getting the deal done sooner than later. I don't want life stuff to fool around and get in their way or mine. Even a simple next day trade can have crazy stuff jump up a kill the sale. It has happened to me. "I mistook my finances." "A better deal turned up." "The other half said I couldn't." A lot of these excuses, while annoying, are legit. Doesn't necessarily make the other party bad, it was just a problem that got in the way.

I try to be as polite and graceful as possible when saying, "the sooner we do this, the better for me." It's amazing how often that turns the conversation into "what are you doing now?"

I've been on both sides. While having a deal or two fall through, I have also had really nice low post count folks bend over backwards to accommodate my own life crap changing things up.

How spineless can you be that you can’t even have the courtesy to TEXT somebody “sorry, changed my mind.”

thanks again for the heads up. Added to my blacklist.

Well, that is probably because you have such a low post count yourself.
