Crimpers like that are something we use almost every day.
So... the cheap ones won't cut it.

We had some crimpers like the ones you were talking about... network crimpers.
They were "shop tools". So we didn't own them.
They weren't used enough for each man to buy one. At least years ago.
Nowadays, we started using them a LOT. Everything is network.

Anyway, the crimpers were broke. Gave bad crimps, with "iffy" connections.
Went through an entire box of connectors.
They didn't want to buy a new crimper, till they figured the cost of an entire box of connectors just to do one end.

Why are people so wimpy about snow now a days? If it’s less than 6”, don't bother me as I could get about anywhere I need to go with a rear wheel drive with decent radials. Have a 4WD F350, an awd Fusion and a Subaru. The only rear wheel drives today seem to be muscle cars and PU trucks so most vehicles are fwd and can get through 4” with ease. I’m not worried about the snow, but the idiots who can’t drive in it. Now if the blizzard of 67 is coming, let me know.

IMO, schools call delays/e-learning to protect themselves from lawsuits. When I was in school, if the roads were bad and somebody wrecked their car, that person was a dumbass who should have known better. Today, if a kid were to wreck on the way to school in less than favorable road conditions, many parents would be blaming the school for putting their baby at risk and then look to cash in.

And the funny thing is that when the blizzard of '67 came, nobody knew it was coming. I think the prediction was for partly cloudy with 4" of snow. It was 65 degrees one day and we got 23" of snow the next.

When I moved to Indiana from out of state in 1991, I was impressed by the way they rarely cancelled school for snow. The policies have certainly changed since then.
Because our mentality now is that we cancel anything that causes hardship or even a little more effort. We've become a society of entitled snowflakes.

Ramps were the worst part of the roads. Little slick. Turned on the 4x4 in town because I had it, not because I needed it when I had to slow down before a hill because of timid drivers or their lack of tread throwing the back end out.

In Wisconsin, these roads would be great.

Nope. Just regular crimpers for insulated/noninsulated spade connectors
Since we had to buy our tools, until just before I left.
Supposedly, the union said when they combined our crafts, the company now had to buy our tools.
Well, I never saw it. Anyway at 30 years you pretty much have what you need.
    Amazon product ASIN B0018LD2PU

Hmm ... Amazon link not showing on Desktop - saw it on my phone .. anyway

I have 2 of the Thomas & Betts crimpers -- the first one was ~ $75 back in the 80's from Grainger type of Distributor --- second one was ~ $25 from Ebay a few years later --- Identical and have been working flawlessly for over 30 years ... (haven't used them that much in the last 10 years since I moved to a Desk job )
