What do you all use to keep your bike shining. I am still using old fashioned carnauba wax. I have seen some ads for F11 top coat. That stuff sure is pricey. I was wondering what you folks are using.
I have been using the Meguires ceramic wax in a bottle. It’s easy to use, you pre wash, rinse, spray the wax on and rinse off. I absolutely love this stuff. I use it about every two months. And I wash my bike on the reg.

    2 updates.

My wife likes my Corbin seat so she decided to keep it.

I received the cover material for "my" Russell's Day Long about 10 days ago. Got the memory foam yesterday.

This morning I cut some pad pieces out of foam for the seat. After a couple tries I was happy. I did NOT want to add any extra foam to the 'wings' that support the thighs, but I was looking to increase the "cheek" padding area.

Recovering took a bit more time and a bit more effort than I would have guessed. I was very glad that I have an electric construction staple gun, it made the recovering much easier.

Photo of the covered seat is from BEFORE it did a test sit.

Overall it is much better for me and the wife ended up happy after stealing my Corbin. Honestly this is a LOT more comfortable than the Corbin. Did a test ride today, went about 120 miles. Could have gone farther but I needed to be home. Will be leaving again on the bike later.

Re-shaped seat with the "wings" clipped, but clearly they are still there. I just took about 3/4" off of the points of the wings.

First test fitting of the added 1/2" of memory foam. Clearly not quite right. 2nd attempt was much better.

Recovered with the new diamond stitch fabric. It will probably need to be 'stretched' one more time, but I'll ride with it like this to the end of the season before I do the next stretch.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna want one of these. Been waiting on Kawasaki to fuel inject the KLR for a few years now.

I'm gonna need for someone to go ahead and pick up one of these soon. Put some miles on, maybe drop it a few times? Season it up to be affordable for me in a few years?

What do you plan to use it for? Some of the guys on the Honda forum where I am a member have had the KLR 650 and said it is great off-road but not so great on road. Twitchy, not great fuel economy, etc.

Likely use it for a lot of the same riding I do now, with a bit more of a bend toward the dirt. I have pastures surrounding me that I could ride with a bit more of a dirt oriented bike. I run street tires on the Versys. They do OK in the gravel, but slip out from under quick in the grass and dirt.

I'm not sure if the fuel injection will solve the mileage issue or not? Looks like Spurge got 45-48mpg? That's around what I get on the Versys.

As mentioned, there will be some years, before these are in my price range. Plenty of time to get more info. The KLR is a long time hugely popular bike. There will be tons of info to sort out before actual purchase. This is also the first year of a redesign. May not be the year to buy at all, we will see.

I am researching windshield upgrades to direct the wind a bit more over myself and my passenger. I am liking Klock Werks. Going to give this some more thought and research before hitting the purchase tab on Revzilla this weekend.

I have heard of Klock Werks brand. Let us know what you think if you buy one.
I am running a Long Ride Shield (LDS) right now and like it.
I also have a web page saved for Clearview's product.

Thanks to all who replied. I feel validated now. Glad to know it wasn't just me being old and crotchety. I mean I am old and crotchety, but at least that wasn't the only reason to be annoyed. :):
Hell, I have fairly loud pipes on my Boulevard. I work 5pm to 5am. When I ride home in the morning I hit the kill switch a few blocks from the house and coast it into the driveway just to not be annoying to my neighbors. Probably not the safest thing but the roads aren't exactly packed with cars at 5:30 am, and all the lights stay on until in parked.

I don’t normally do group rides with riders I’m not familiar with, but it was an honor to be one of over 5000 bikes to escort this Marine home today.

About to roll out early this morning:

WTF is the matter with you guys?
    • Wiping bugs off?
    • Washing?
    • Waxing?
Oh hell no. Go ride the bike!

Roadway, gravel, dirt, grass ... your bike can ride on all those things and I'd rather get a scratch on my bike while having fun than sit at home washing, wiping & waxing (because that sounds like a SPA Day for the wimin folk)

And what is with CHROME and bells and loud speakers?

Seriously, plastic is far easier to care for, the speakers belong inside your helmet connected to a voice controlled bluetooth communication/infotainment system and bells belong on the front door of your house connected to a button.

    :oldwise:
Agreed! If it's a nice enough day to wash, it's a nice enough day to ride!

Soooo,,, if this ride was Sunday, what ride did I see on Saturday going south around 465 on the eastside at around 1pm? It was a HUGE/miles long length of bikes with police escort. Also lots of flags on the overpasses/bridges which I assumed was 9-11 related.
