    Helluva pick up Sparky!
That JD Barrel Proof Rye is one delicious unicorn.
    Congrats!
Yeah it went really fast they had a few cases of it and i grabbed the first one then everyone started to realize what it was and it all disapeared. They limited it to one which was nice so turds did not buy a case and resell for 4 times the price on facebook bourbon pages.

I found a bottle of the EC Toasted Barrel and wasn’t too impressed. The Barrel Proof is much better.
I have not had it yet and its the only Elijah Craig not in my collection besides the obvious 23 year old unicorn. Everytime its on a bourbon menu at a restraunt or bar I try to get a pour and it is always sold out....

I found a 375ml of Jefferson Ocean for $40, so it fits this thread...

I’d always avoided this bourbon due to price and mixed reviews. When I found the smaller bottle, I went for it. The nose was light, but had some salted caramel and creme brûlée notes. Upon tasting it though: total disappointment. It tastes very young and light. Not much complexity or depth, and the notes detected on the nose didn’t really come through very strongly. Very meh, and I’m convinced the Voyage process is a gimmick. I am designating the rest of it as a mixer.

Voyage 23, if that helps you.

I’ve wanted to try the Sazerac. The best rye I’ve had so far has been the JD Special Release barre proof.
I've had both now and that JD stuff is in a different league IMHO.
The Sazerac is decent, especially for 30ish bucks.

Hey Sparky, not very easy pacing your consumption on that bottle is it? lol.

In case it hasnt been mentioned, Hotel Tango is pretty damn good. They were out of Knob Creek the other day so I recognized the name as a local distillery so I picked up a bottle. I'm impressed.

Obviously not as high a proof as Knob Creek (92 vs 100) but I think its to their advantage... More flavor, less burn. It could very well be my new favorite.
