Seems like this thread has devolved into a wage/benefit envy thread. Don't like your situation? Change it. :dunno:
To be clear, I was just passing along what I heard reported in the news. I'm happy the claim was substantiated. Thank you!

My intent was not to be critical of any individual. Make all you can and take all you can, please.

It's another matter all together whether gov't spending of our tax dollars is efficient or excessive. For sure though, it was just this week increased.

Wonder if there is a figure of how much the Junteenth executive order cost us?

I wasn’t envious of wages or benefits. I was just pointing out I think it’s funny the people who benefit the most from the holiday are the ones that voted for it to become a holiday. I’m glad people like you who actually work and take pride in their work get raises and good benefits... I’m not in gov but I made sure I found a job with both of those attributes... My beef isn’t with the workers/beneficiaries... I was just pointing out most black Americans work a regular job that dont get most holidays off... but the government that voted for it does.

Meh. I’m full of chicken and a crown and coke... so if that didn’t clear up any misconceptions I only get worse at it from here :)

This is the same city that decided to pay reparations

Why is the City of Evanston implementing local reparations?
After the passage of Resolution 58-R-19, “Commitment to End Structural Racism and Achieve Racial Equity,” in the summer of 2019, the Evanston City Council took action to address the historical wealth and opportunity gaps that African American/Black residents of Evanston experienced. Alderman Robin Rue Simmons sought a “Solutions Only” process with the support of the City’s Equity and Empowerment Commission to identify actions that the City could take to implement a meaningful repair and reparations policy. The first initiative identified was a housing program.

Absolutely, let`s DO celebrate something that stirs up division and heated emotions. Good idea FRANCIS!
Why does celebrating the end of slavery stir up division? Why does this bother you so much? Why can't you just be joyful with others?
