    $5 million? For a company that size? They should have paid in the first 5 minutes, never told anyone outside the company that it happened, and beefed up security.

    I know of companies MUCH smaller than that who paid more.

    Wouldn't it be cool if they paid the extortion, followed the money trail to who and where the cyber attack originated, followed by precision bombing of the location.

    Interesting that the ransom was paid in Bitcoin. The Fed and the central banks do not like Bitcoin because it takes away their power and control and want to see it shut down. One of the chief complaints from the WEF, IMF, BIS and the banking institutions is that Bitcoin is funding terrorism and other nefarious activities.

    That's the reason for being paid in bitcoin as I understand it... Avoiding traces

    I personally believe that Bitcoin really took off when it started being used for criminal activities. It’s the perfect money tool for the criminal underworld.I have nothing to back that up other than coincidental timing of Bitcoin rise and Silk Road.

    perhaps the media and .gov will use this as a the reason to regulate or ban it...
