When I left home (at 18), minimum wage was less than $4/hr.. Somehow I made it without ever going on government assistance. How? By living in cheap places, with a room mate, working multiple jobs, eventually going back to school and getting a job that paid more. What else ya got?
Yeah, because the economy and employment environment are exactly the same today as they were back in the day.

I'd be pretty happy to earn $4 an hour in 1978.

How about we do things in reverse so you realize just how entitled you sound.

They'll just blame the boomers again, even though they're the ones so enamored of communism. Like many before them, they want a short cut that eliminates all that hard work stuff

Gee, can't dare blame the ones who voted all of this nonsense into existence, that would just be wrong.

:): why is it so difficult for you to understand that buying silver is not playing the market? can one not do both? What an odd concept: buying crypto AND silver but not for the same reasons
I think you have an alert on your cell phone that dings when I post the word "silver" on INGO.

    :):

I know that buying silver is not the same as playing the market. The market can make you money. Silver is a silly hedge against the fantasy global currency apocalypse that may go up or down in value a little, but is otherwise a waste of time.

All I've gotten when I mention cryptocurrency to the old fudds on here is "iF I cAn'T hOlD iT, iT dOeSn't eXiSt!"

Thodex, a crypto firm based in Turkey, said its platform has been “temporarily closed” to address an “abnormal fluctuation in the company accounts,” according to a translated statement on its website.

Local media reports say that Faruk Fatih Ozer, Thodex’s founder, has flown to Albania, taking $2 billion of investors’ funds with him. Demiroren News Agency published a photo of what it said was Ozer leaving Istanbul Airport.

I got mocked for my "bottle caps" when I posted about my Dogecoin in the stock market thread.

They can play with their silver trinkets and "thrilling" 2% gains in the stock market. I'll make real money now.

I'd be more worried about the hundreds of crooks on Wall Street before I'd pay any mind to a crook on an obscure crypto exchange in Turkey. The only time I do major business with turkey is on Thanksgiving.

Doesn't look like that was a hacker attack, either.

    Here's how crypto works:
Boomers: "It's only worth 30 cents, it's worthless"
    6 months later
    Boomers: "It's only worth $100, it's worthless"
    6 months later
    Boomers: "it's only worth $20,000, it's worthless"

    Then a dip happens
Boomers: "lol you got taken, it's only worth $50,000 now!"
    Here's how it actually works

Then why are so many boomers complaining about kids never leaving home when the only employment opportunities aren't supposed to allow them to leave the nest?
Because they should have been holding those entry level jobs when they were 15 and 16 and then leveraging their work experience and reputation for reliability to get better, higher paying jobs and moving into their own digs when they had sufficient income, usually with (non-deadbeat) friends as roommates when first starting out.

I know a kid who went from cook at a Bob Evans to regional manager in 5 years. He gets a taste of the profits of every BE in his region as well as his salary, and there are plenty of steps above him on that ladder

That's a plausible reality for SOME people at SOME jobs.
Most chains do not really present this kind of option. Especially big corporate chains that hire managers straight out of college with no experience.

Acting like this is a reality at most entry level jobs is pretty callous.
Most dangle the carrot while figuring out corporate policy that ensures higher and higher turnover so they never have to give people a raise or bump them up the chain.
