It's socialism to expect someone to pay a market price for a product? :lol2:

So market price for flipping burgers is what? $15.00 an hour? Heck, why stop there? Why not $100K/year with full benefits? And who is setting "market price"? The government? So you're good with a $15/hour minimum wage or UBI?

It's what ever the market demands, unless you believe the free market needs government intervention.

If people won't show up and work for $7 an hour, then maybe instead of complaining, you can offer more for their labor?

Those places DO offer more. But they can't compete with the government printing unlimited dollars for people to stay home. You don't see a problem with that?

Is unemployment something you can remain on for life now? I was under the impression it's a limited time thing. I've never been on it before.

I got mocked for my "bottle caps" when I posted about my Dogecoin in the stock market thread.

All I've gotten when I mention cryptocurrency to the old fudds on here is "iF I cAn'T hOlD iT, iT dOeSn't eXiSt!"

    :):

They can play with their silver trinkets and "thrilling" 2% gains in the stock market. I'll make real money now.

This is not financial advice. I eat crayons.

    :)
:): why is it so difficult for you to understand that buying silver is not playing the market? can one not do both? What an odd concept: buying crypto AND silver but not for the same reasons

All the talking heads are on this. Havn't checked in with the lib press on what they are saying.

Maybe some of our Biden voters will be along to update us on CNN, PBS, etc? :stickpoke:
Or perhaps those from INGO who voted for this crap can tell us how innocuous it was voting for the POS fouling the Oval Office...

Yes it is, as of now. It's not even unemployment. It's "stimulus checks". Then it will be "Universal Basic Income". For life.

BTW, do YOU think they'll suddenly become humanitarians and absorb the price of increased labor cost, or do you think they'll pass it along to the consumer?

They might try to pass on that cost, but the next business over will be willing to operate on slimmer earnings to take their business.

    Welcome to capitalism.

So you're telling me people can afford to pay a mortgage, buy groceries, and pay their bills with $3200 a year?

Most other countries were dolling out up to and over $2k a month during all of this, and most people still went to work when they could.

The problem comes when the government is paying people substantially more than the wages for these jobs to stay home and sit on their butts. If anything needs to be set at minimum wage standards, it should be government assistance. If .gov is only paying you 40 hours worth of wages at $7.35 (or whatever the current federal minimum wage is), then 10 or 11 bucks an hour starts to look pretty good.

Those places DO offer more. But they can't compete with the government printing unlimited dollars for people to stay home. You don't see a problem with that?
Bullspit. Show me the government programs that pay able-bodied adults a living wage on a permanent basis as an alternative to working.

Welfare and foodstamps have been a thing for generations.
Yes. People have been staying on them for generations. You are obviously comfortable with that. I'm not. I've got this wacky idea that people should actually work for a living rather than suck off the government teat from generation to generation. Welfare was supposed to be a temporary safety net, not a goal. And make no mistake, there are people that view it as a goal.

And social security was supposed to be for people to retire on and exit the job market, but then they decided they'd take on all those $7 an hour jobs because it pays low enough that they don't lose their social security. And as those people age and die, employers are left wondering why there's no one willing to do it for $7 left.

You are the one adding the Permanent Basis into the equation.
