The government is terrible at running things. Anybody that wants their health care run by a government just isn't thinking right.
    Government run healthcare.......

Brought to you by the same people who paid for $900.00 hammers and $1500.00 toilet seats that now want to save that money lost
through government run healthcare via only paying a nickle 95 for a surgery that used to cost 15,000.00.

    Efficiency at it's best. :ugh:

And brought to you by the same people who consider their political rivals to be domestic extremists in need of re-education, and failing that, having their lives and livelihoods ruined.

"So, before we schedule your life saving surgery I want to review your chart. Any new symptoms since we last spoke? Any new medications? Did you make any political donations last year, and, if so, to whom? How much did you donate to BLM during the peaceful protests last year? How many social media posts did you create that were critical of the insurrection at the Capitol? What is your opinion of the McCloskeys: are they violent white supremacists, or ignorant colonizers defending land they have stolen from native people? How many years should Kyle Rittenhouse be in solitary imprisionment for? Are you now, or have you ever been, a Republican?"

Govt has already screwed our healthcare up long before ACA.

Let healthcare insurance cross state lines and let prescription medications cross international birders er borders.

Because China produces pharma so reliably. Sort of like tainted dog food and noxious dry wall. Yup, that'll solve things...

You won't be FORCED to BUY from China like you are now FORCED to buy only from here. You will have the personal freedom to buy from wherever you want.

Personal responsibility means just that. Don't need government mandates on masks...or medicine.

I agree, ditch the ACA, i'd be okay with keeping medicare/medicaid for those who truly need it. Let the market explode and offer products people want. There's no reason a healthy person in their late teens or twenties needs an all encompassing policy. Offer reasonable major medical plans for those that are younger in case of serious illness or injury. Otherwise if you need to go to the doctor you can just pay the office visit, it's not that expensive. Actually if you shop around many things aren't that expensive like even MRI's and other tests. As you get older and/or have a family you can tailor plans as you might need them.

Wowzers! Today, under 1,000 new cases (817) have been reported for the first time since last September. Sure, it's after the weekend, but over the next couple of days, we'll see if the trend continues. Indiana is doing great! The death count has simply fallen off a cliff

Almost 40% of ICU beds are open.

I think both of these numbers are starting to reflect the vaccines received by our older neighbors.

That is a good sign but today isn't a very good reporting day. Hopefully that holds up in the next couple days after the holiday.

And yet a big wig at my company said in a meeting last week that cases and deaths are still rising.

That of course led me to have an existential discussion in my own head about whether I was going to be the agitator to post a link in the Zoom chat to the CDC site that shows both cases and deaths dropping over the last 30 days and prove this person incorrect in front of our entire department of close to 200 people.

Spoiler alert: I did not. And my conscience have been bugging me about it since.

    Here is my analysis:

Can this person adversely affect my job now or in the future? If so, I don't confront him publicly...or at all, but I may make sure those in my sphere know the truth.

That's a big 10-4 to that first question as this individual is the VP of my department. That's why I let it go.

But the lingering question remains; is this person simply misinformed, or purposely lying. Either way, it's concerning.

Good question and yes it is concerning.

My "problem" is, I don't watch the news. I just look at the reported numbers and draw my own conclusions. If I watched the news, who knows what I would think.

Just look at my sig. Seriously, the number of times I hear BS and ask a few questions and realize the individual speaking is not malicious just clueless.

I think you played it perfectly. Why confront his statement at all. The death rate is of much interest to many people so I suspect most of the people there knew he was wrong.

When considering a correction or some type of possibly confrontational statement it is good to ask oneself... Does this need to be said? Does this need to be said right now? and Does this need to be said by me?

I think this is good advice. I plan to start using it someday.

    Feigning?
Are you questioning the definition, or my use of the term? Or, perhaps, not understanding the verb "to feign"? I thought it fit under the circumstances.
