Growing up as a military brat I guess maybe I have more of an attachment to our flag and it's anthem. At an early age we were taught to stop what we were doing and face the flag in the evening when the color guard would sound retreat. To this day my eyes still water whenever I hear the national anthem and don't even talk to me about Taps. During those few short minutes I stop and reflect on the price that too many have paid so we can enjoy our over priced athletes doing the only thing they're good at besides whining.

If you have a problem with our flag, our anthem or our military then you can just **** the hell off and get the **** out of our great country. And the ****ing horse you rode in on.

Sounds like another reason for people to get offended.
Some are offended by the song being played, some are offended because it isn't played, some are offended by others being offended. It's pretty much a no win situation these days.

The truth is, most people won't even notice it isn't played.

He probably doesn't like it because in the full version it mentions God, same with the pledge of allegiance.
Original pledge didn't reference god. And it was written by a preacher.

Again I'm all for honoring those who fought for our freedoms. I guess its more a time and place thing. I see no point to adding it to sports.

I'm not offended by it. Nor do I concern myself with the references to God.

I don't know how old you are, but being a military brat also, my experience is a bit different. Yes, I remember being at baseball practices (on post), Retreat coming on, and us stopping and facing the flag. I also remember riding with my parents, and it coming on, us stopping the car getting out, and standing in attention. But I also remember this......right at the warning before Retreat started, me and pretty much every kid from 6-18, AND GI,s to boot, making a mad dash to get indoors before you got "caught" by Retreat.

It's a win/win for Cuban. He can be claim woke, but required to follow league rules.

Wonder if Cuban knew about this in advance?

Of you know the history of why we play the national anthem before games, perhaps it wouldn't matter to you as much.

Personally ive always thought it was dumb. Yes we are in america. Yes america is great. Yay us. But playing the anthem before every game of every sport just seems "up our own asses about it"

If we are doing international games. Usa vs whoever. Then let's do both to show who's represented.

Let's just show up, kick the ball, throw the ball, skate in circles, skate on ice what ever and GTFO
The history, as in, the Red Sox?

Ok I get the point you guys are making about honoring the sacrifices for our freedoms.

But why is it necessary at ball games?
Do I need to sing the anthem before I bbq, shower, drive, go to work, pay my taxes etc?
I just see someone intent on believing we have no shared identity or national heritage, which is really what is pulling the fabric of America apart

I have the feeling you'd be OK with it if we played:

    The ghey National Anthem
    The BLM National Anthen
    The transgender National Anthem
    The marxist National Anthem
The elitist National Anthem etc etc

It just seems some are unwilling to admit to anything in common with other Americans who do not believe exactly like them

You will not replace us :):

OK....are you really that far out in orbit.

Large gatherings of patriots about to enjoy one of our coveted freedoms and they honor those who fought and died to make sure we could continue to do this.

Don't be a stooge man. The site is full of veterans that right now, You are dishonoring and you don't have a damned clue. Thats just sad man. Sad.

So lets do this....you surely just don't get it so don't post in here again please.

Enjoy your freedoms as you see fit but "DO NOT QUESTION" how we honor ours. Just don't.

You are incorrect in regards to my preferred choice of anthem.

Sorry I had to respond that that chao above you.

I certainly mean no disrespect, and don't mean to belittle.

Seems like a strange line to draw in the sand in regards to sports.

But out of respect to you. I'll go read only on this thread.
