You guys would argue all day long for steam engines in the face of internal combustion. Unable to see the future for the present
It isn't failure to accept technology evolving. It is a matter of not accepting a group of dumbasses trying to take away proven technology while trying to foist an underdeveloped technology on us that is not at present capable of replacing established technology.

In other words, make the **** work right, and better than what we have, before demanding we change. The only thing "hope and change" ever did was get a ****ing moron into tbe White House.

Flywheels and batteries are already being deployed to help maintain frequency control.
I've been repairing frequency maintainers for a few years now. Like I said that technology is not there yet.

That's why all those 345 kV lines run all over the place
That's not how it works, there are limitations to distance. You know because of Physics. The storage technology is simply not ready yet

And this is the issue across the board with all this Green tech.
It is just not ready for prime time.

Yeah we have a maintainer at a decommissioned station. The "experts" said it would be needed less than 30 days a year. Well the only time it has been shut down is for maintenance since 2018. Guess they just miscalculated :dunno:

If they could do that, they wouldn't have to demand we change, we would likely change on our own. They know and we know it is going to be a kludge, but they're for it because there is a payday involved and they think it will never affect them
