Western society, specifically American.... would say black. I suspect you already know this.

I assume that they'll adapt a mixture of culture, the proportion of which will be whatever is most prevalent with them. And then that will be their identity. How to express it on a form? Check the box which benefits you most. That'd be my pragmatic suggestion.

Well, in this mixed up mess I am just not sure these days Kut. I mean no disrespect for either ethnicity. I suppose they can choose when they are old enough to make such decisions.
The idiocy in all of this is the need to identify. I am sure there are reasons I do not understand growing up as I did.
The girls relatives (SIL's people) have been pushing hard ti let them take the girls and embrace their black culture. This runs pretty deep. You would have to know those people to understand. SIL moved here from Dayton to escape that part of the "Culture"

In all of this I only wish to expose the idiocy. That is just how I see it. I am sure their are differing opinions.

Why is it OK for these people but not others?

You are inverting cause and effect. It is OK for these because it has been done for others. Why is it not OK for these people?

If everybody is allowed in because they face persecution at home, these folks are certainly a subset of everybody. So what's different about them that you would assert they do not deserve asylum?

Serously though, who owned the land before Israel, before the Palestinians, before them? How far back do you go before you get to the rightful owners?

You only go back far enough until your favored claimant has possession and just stop there. It's not about history, it's not about right and wrong, it's about temporal power. When will we be celebrating Erdogan's return of Turkey to its rightful owners?

I thought that was where you were going and replied again. How far back do we have to go to decide whose land it is? Who had it before the Palestinians? The then occupiers--well, controllers--of the land gave it to Israel and that pissed off the Palestinians. Who owns it now? Israel.

And that same applies in SA, does it not?

I don't agree. Past mistakes do not excuse future mistakes. This is no different than being in favor of your guy in office doing :poop: while bemoaning the last guy in office doing it.

If you don't agree with the past cases, why would you be in favor of this one?

I didn’t comment about “the bigger issue.” Many people’s nations have been cleansed, stolen, and their history wiped away over the centuries. The only thing they can do is adapt and overcome. No one is going to come to their aid and nobody will care unless it directly affects them. It may not be right, but that’s how the race of humans have chosen to live. I asked a specific member about a matter I may have knowledge about, to bring some clarity. What you may choose to call me, despite what my desire may be, is something I can do nothing about. I’ve been called many things and could do nothing about it, just like you may have experienced. Those people, just like me, will have to remember who they are and embrace it, as others may not choose to see them in any other light beyond their capacity. At some point, the entire matter will no longer be a significant element of their humanity and they must define themselves as they see fit and choose to live on, despite others.

As for the US getting involved, I distinctly remember you posting the “Africa could be turned into a sheet of glass and nobody would care.” Have you had a change of heart about the continent?

Na fine let's turn it into glass since no one cares.
Oh and I don't call you anything but your name Que. Just like I call, everyone by name not ethnicity. When we've met I never heard you call me "white trigger time". You can feel free to call yourself whatever but for legal form purposes I think we need to get back to basics and not politics. Black, brown, yellow, white, whatever.
People can leave "their struggle" out of it

China a zero intention "sucking the place dry." That simply doesn't make sense for it's endgame of displacing the United States. What does an manufacturing powerhouse need to to keep it's economy growing at a steady pace? My bet is that Africa in the 21st Century, if China has it's way, will be significantly better than it was in the 20th.

Except that IMO being a manufacturing powerhouse is not their end game, it's simply a means to the end. Their end game is simply power. What sense does it make to build up another continent that could eventually compete with them?

China has not gone that route. They have started pouring billions into the continent, to create a modern infrastructure... not because the want resources out of the ground, but resources with two legs. As China flexes it's economic muscles it's going to need consumers, and a LOT of them. There's no better place than Africa.

I'd say it's a bit of both, resources out of the ground and resources with two legs. And yes they will need consumers to continue their plan, see above for what I think that plan is. Did America (and other countries) see slaves as resources with two legs, simply for what they could provide. Or did they see them as future consumers?

China invested approximately $70M in Africa in 2003.... in 2008, that number had risen to $5.5B. I'm not discounting your experience, but simply having a relationship with Asian companies isn't indicative of much.

How much of that infrastructure is in manufacturing and other things, compared to simply infrastructure to get what they want? I remember a few (well more than a few) when Inland steel was bought out, the new owner invested heavily in other countries to increase their infrastructure. He thought it was more efficient to ship partially refined iron ore in the form of pellets than the completely unrefined ore. Did he build up their infrastructure to help them, or simply to increase his profits?

The terrorists in my avatar (as is their older sister) Have a father of color and a white mother. What box do they check. I have never seen a "Mixed" box but if we all look back we are to a point mixed or as "TT" stated, "Mutt". Why is there even a freaking box. A college might feel the need to track where students are from but to fill out a 4473 and see how they break it down is pretty insulting. Besides gender what does it even matter besides tracking for meeting what ever quota is in place at the time. Just my confused personal view.

I've seen quite a few that have a box for multi-racial.

And that is exactly my point. Legality's and policy's. I just really wish all of this would melt away.

I am still looking for what my G-daughters can identify with.

    Human? American?

Western society, specifically American.... would say black. I suspect you already know this.

Why? I've got mixed cousins, nieces, nephews. I identify them as my cousins, nieces, and nephews. Not as my asian, black, brown, white, mixed relations. Same with friends and coworkers.

I gotta say Huh also? I think I've asked you this before but never received an answer, what is "black culture"? What is "white culture"? As it relates to America that is.

White culture for me is a true mix of everything, I just call it being an American and all colors are welcome and included as far as I'm concerned. That's the beauty of it.

However once we get politics and government involved we are not all equal. I check the "white" box because I have to.
However checking other boxes gets you certain advantages and priorities that the white box won't get you.
    Government divides us.

If I said "huh" regarding Jamil's similar question, in the past, what makes you think I have the ability to answer what "black" or "white" culture is now?
