WaPo's headline says the "entire senior management state department..." resigned.
That's incredibly inaccurate.
Four people. Also, more perspective... There are presidential appointees that offer resignation upon every new administration. It's a completely normal thing.
One senior State Department official who responded to my requests for comment said that all the officials had previously submitted their letters of resignation, as was required for all positions that are appointed by the president and that require confirmation by the Senate, known as PAS positions.
If your neighbor, his kids, or his dogs were trespassing on your property, damaging your property, eating your food, running up your light and water bills, stealing your property, and raping and killing your family - just hazarding a guess here - you would probably have grounds to sue your neighbor for damages, resulting in financial recompense.
Miguel started a post about this, specifically. I just wanted to say: cool org chart! Really puts the firings in perspective.
White House calling for 20 percent tax on imports from Mexico to pay for southern border wall. Spicer talking about border adjustment tax.
So basically Americans who consume Mexican goods will pay for the wall. Well, we're gonna pay for it either way. I just wish he'd be up front about that. I'm gonna go with a -1 here.
Feels like "We're gonna make Mexico pay for it" over and over... then flipping to "Oh, you're going to pay for it, Americans." is worth a bit more than a 1. But that's just me.
How much do we pay already in terms of fraudulent benefits, medical care, etc?
The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on United States Taxpayers (2013)
Oh I don't disagree there, but do you think the average American will understand that? Will they accept an unseen cost, and assume it's being alleviated?

Like I said elsewhere, I just want us to go back to being a nation of laws. If it's illegal to be here, I'm not convinced that we can deport everyone, but certainly no benefits paid for by tax payers.
You really don't have to do most of it via deportation. People who can't get jobs because laws about employing illegals (which start at a $10,000 penalty) are suddenly being enforced and losing various welfare program benefits will do the bulk of the job.

What if passing the cost directly along makes Mexican good less competitive compared to China, any other country or the U.S.?
Shipping costs probably figure into that. But it probably depends how much he's gonna tariff ChiYNA.
What happened to all the free trade libertarians?
