    A little back story...

I'm a contractor and I'm working a job right now for a major corporation bringing the entire building up to current OSHA safety standards. I've been working 12's for 4 straight weeks, getting 60+ hours a week. The hours are long, but at least it pays off in the end, making me 80k+ per year.

Back to what happened today. Like I said, I've been working 12 hrs a day, and with it being 3:30 pm on Thursday, I already had 40 hours in this week. Being responsible for the safety of others is a big task, and one that I don't take lightly. I realized that the long hours had been getting to me, and I wasn't on my "A-Game". So I checked in with my guys and made sure they were on task, and decided to take a 30 minute break to freshen up for the rest of the day.

I had just finished the delicious chicken salad sandwich that my wife packed in my lunch this morning and still had 20 minutes left on my break. I found a nice quiet alcove in the building, set my alarm for 20 minutes, and covered my face with my hard hat. I must have been sleeping for about 10 minutes when this dude comes stomping down the nearby stairs, raising a ruckus. He starts laying into me about not doing my job and slacking off. I tried to explain to him that I was on break and trying to get rested up so that I could be on top of my game - especially since my job affected the safety of others. He wouldn't hear any of it. Said he was going straight to the owner about this.

Well, the owner of the company comes storming out with this guy right on his heels, lighting into me and accusing me of not caring about anyone's safety. Did I mention that my hard hat was on the entire time? I mean really, my work should speak for itself. He tells me that I should know better, and I begin to explain the situation to him. Boss man tells me that he already knows everything he needs to know and that Stairwell dude has filled him in on everything, including my bad attitude.

The owner told me not to bother gathering my things, that they will be sent to me, and promptly escorts me off the property.

My wife is a stay-at-home mom to our 6 month old twin boys and our 4 year old daughter. Now we have no income and I'm afraid we may lose the house. On top of that, we are still paying the hospital bills for the twins since they came prematurely. My wife and my relationship has been a bit rocky with me working so much to take care of my family, and I'm afraid this may just push her over the edge and cause her to leave me.

I feel like my life is in shambles. All because some dude coming down the stairs wouldnt listen long enough to get the story straight.

I don't think he is even sorry.

I mean I understand...but both parties are on here? That's messed up...

    It's a "fake" thread.
Someone else had a thread about getting a safety guy fired.
And this thread is "fake" giving a story from the other viewpoint.

that's why someone rated it as 8.5 out of 10.
