People around these parts crush up Imodium, mix it with water and inject it when desperate for a high

    Does it actually work?

I'm assuming that loperamide was developed to mimic the consitpating side effect of opiates, but without the primary effects expected from opiates. Is there some level of pain relief or euphoria retained?

The preceding is, of course, an academic inquiry. The only thing on my mind right now is slowing the exit flow . . .

No data to my knowledgeto answer definitively. You are correct in your thinking. It is not absorbed when taken by mouth so only hits the opioid receptors in the gut (who put those there). In theory it would probably indeed work if injected, but I'm guessing most drug addicts don't know how to make it sterile or reduce the particle size enough lol

It doesn't immobilize blades heading for the legs of the blades' handlers?

Why, you! If I could stray far enough away from the bathroom right now . . .

This is bringing back good memories! I had a medicinal organic chemistry class back in 1994. Good times!

You may get better faster if you don't take Imodium. It's a "motility modifier" so yes it can prevent "episodes". However, slowing the motility of your gut also affects proper absorption. In many cases this means your underlying problem is prolonged.

I tell my dog owners that it might help them have to clean up the tile less, but the dog will be more crampy and take longer to heal.

It can also reduce the intestine's ability to fight bacteria.

Humans are sold a lot of symptomatic treatments. That's fine when you really need them but some of them inhibit symptoms that are part of your body's attempt to fight off a problem.
