And true socialism or communism won't ever exist, unless you build some robots that don't understand the concept of self-interest. Few human beings can resist abusing the absolute power that is created under communism. It puts too much power in the hands of too few.

What is wrong with working hard, buying your own property, and making yourself happy? Why don't you like these things? I seriously am interested in understanding why you believe having someone else work and think for you is a better system, because my mind-o-liberty won't allow me to compute that.

What would be interesting is watching what would happen if true liberals went for full redistribution of wealth.... forcing those sitting on their butts collecting checks for doing nothing being forced to actually work for once.

They don't realize they are being enslaved by the Left with all the freebies... only to realize until it's too late that it was all just about controlling them for their votes.

As long as there are human beings, your utopic society will never exist.

There will always be the bigger, stronger, meaner folks who will beat up on and rule the smaller, weaker people. Take away a Representative Republic and Democratic principles and you have "Communist" Russia / Fascist Germany, etc.

We all know how well those societies worked out for people. 5.6 million Polish casualties alone during WW2.

Here's something for you to chew on:
If you took all the money in the US and split it up evenly among all the 173 million taxpayers in the country, in 10 years those who were rich initially will be rich again, and those who were poor initially will be poor again.

Without a change in mindset and behaviors, redistribution of wealth does nothing. It decreases the desire to work hard and succeed, and increases the desire to relax and allow the "good and honorable" people to take care of you.
Basically, you turn into those future people in HG Wells' The Time Machine.

Just some random thoughts. Welcome to Ingo. I'm new here too but I am most definitely NOT a socialist. I hope you're not a troll, differing opinions are great, it forces one to really think about one's true beliefs.

There is nothing wrong with working hard and earning a living. The problem that emerges is that I'm not referring to those people. Just as you say there are many who would just collect a government paycheck for doing nothing but there are many who do the same on the other end of the spectrum. Think of those fortunates who happened to have land on a gold mine, or an oil field or a diamond mine or some other natural resource. There was nothing about their hard work that granted them these things, it was luck...and in my opinion it was not theirs to keep for themselves. The world is something that we all must share in a wise fashion and share is something that many find aversive. My thoughts are not classic liberalism, libertarianism, socialism or whatever ism one may think. I am a free thinking person who dreams big for the sake of a unified peaceful society and world which includes all peoples regardless of whether luck put them in a wealthy family or a ****hole devoid of anything but misery and despair.

Do you believe and support the Second Amendment? If yes, then I can care less about the other stuff. I don't think you joined INGO with a desire to engage in a discussion with the hope of having some sort of revelation concerning your political views. I would also bet that you don't believe you will change the views of other members, but more likely stir up a lot of mess.

I would venture to say that you haven't even started a thread about guns, but I hope I"m wrong. Either way, welcome to INdiana Gun Owners.

"Luck" as you say may have put one in a wealthy family, or in a messed up family. Where you start is not necessarily up to you, but where you end up is completely within your control. It is your choices and your maturity that put you where you wind up in your adult life. And, sorry my friend, but I'm not one that's willing to pay for someone else's poor choices.

If you're truly in need and are struggling in spite of making the best choices possible, I'm all about giving a hand UP. If you're just some lazy ### slacker who just wants to sit around and watch Judge Judy all day, then giving those people "help" is doing more to damage them than it is to help.

Teach a man to fish and you feed him forever. Give a man a fish and he'll sit on his butt and watch TV all day, every day, not work until you give him another fish.
