I feel that the big mistake we are all making is we are always relying one other humans for all of our answers.

If I am not mistaken our republic was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. It would be my guess that as a nation we have abandoned the principles. Needless to say by abandoning these principles we have abandoned the God of those same principles. Our government is merely a reflection of our society. We have become a people of distrust. Before you go condemning me for that statement just look around you. Are deals made on a handshake anymore? Would you stop and pickup someone with care trouble not knowing what they may have in store for you? Do you know and trust your neighbors? These are just general questions and the answer probably will have bearing on where you live.

I realize there are those out there that have no spiritual belief in a God of higher powers. There are also some that call on that God only when they need Him. Then there are those that let this God rule their lives by developing a relationship with Him that will last throughout eternity. My faith in God is what gets me through every day of my life. It is only through this God that our forefathers so believed in that thy found His basic laws a guideline to a new nation. We can construe anything if we to make things fit our needs but until we become a spiritual people with a relationship with a higher power will never know true freedom or liberty.

It is my belief that until we all return to our roots and the faith of our founding fathers we will continue to degrade as a nation. May God Please Bless you all and the United Stated of America.

Excellently put. You are absolutely right. I think the only thing we can do is instill all that is right in the next generation though they have a huge challenge due to the majority of their peers have been poisioned by the media and ignorant people. I was raised in a single parent home by a woman who did the best she could to teach us their is a God and we must live righteously and honorable. My brothers have both left home and college life has left them questioning everything they were taught. It saddens me to see them believing their is no God and one of them is now a practicing homosexual. Pray for them and our country. Sorry for the rant.

Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

There is the guarantee our founding fathers afforded us as citizens. I agree with it totally. I cannot for the life of me understand how non believing people have distorted this amendment to the point they have today. This separation of church and state thing has literally bastardized the 1st amendment likened to the way the anti-gun lobby has tried to make the 2nd amendment fit their needs. If anything congress has made laws to the establishment of religion. Congress has established laws creating Socialism as State religion with the Health Care mandate being the latest.

If you wish to study history all of our basic laws come from the Ten Commandments. I guess I live in a pretty black and white world with no gray areas. You know Right and Wrong. You are entitled to you beliefs and opinions as this is a right our founding fathers gave you and me. I just choose to believe in One God that I believe guided these good men to found this nation as they did.

You believe I am totally wrong in my beliefs. I do not. I live by my faith in God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. What if I am right and you are wrong,
Just a thought though. I will always keep praying for all of God's creation and the great nation he guided into existence. To Quote our Moderator "BLESSINGS".

This country was founded predominantly by Christians. That is a fact. Who came over on the Mayflower? Why? What were they seeking to accomplish? I suggest those who doubt read source material rather than rely on 'knowledge' gleaned from the likes of publik skrewl 'social studies' books, or many of the historically revisionistic works out there these days. One could start with something such as Of Plymouth Plantation by William Bradford (Amazon has it and it is fairly easy and engaging to read).

Of Plymouth Plantation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The historical ignorance among the majority of people in this country is ASTOUNDING, although not surprising. It's also dangerous, seriously. Lack of a common understanding of our history is one of the factors that divides us and has a balkanizing tendency. People without a strong sense of their heritage have little direction and are easily swayed. Knowledge is power. Ignorance is weakness. Most never go beyond what they get in the publik skrewls. Is it any wonder why we're in the position we're in?

Yet, the source material still exists. One can read it. They haven't burned or rewritten all the books yet. To make it easy, after reading Bradford, one could move on to a book like one of the following. Although not source works, the sources are freely cited and can be used for further study. I hear people can even read books from their local library for free (marginally anyway).

Yes, the 'founding fathers' (who came along over 100 years later) were not an exclusively Christian group (although they were predominantly so), and even those who weren't Christians were so steeped in a Christianized culture that their thinking was shaped by it. Some of them realized it. Some did not. Virtually all recognized religion and morality as indispensible supports to the good of our nation and that the Constitution was wholly inadequate to govern a people who didn't have the moral character to govern themselves (there are many citations from many of the fathers that could be cited on this subject). Whether it was founded on 'Christian principles' directly or not, it was certainly founded indirectly on such principles, since those who did the founding held worldviews that were profoundly affected by such principles.

Freedom of religion is a new catch phrase for the uneducated. All the meanings intent was that the government could establish no religion nor favor one. It is a simple concept. It is why the church of satan is legal in the US. As long as no laws are broken you are free to worship as you please (that is why the mayflower sailed btw).

The problem is, it is free UNLESS you are Christian. If you do not support free abortion or redistribution of wealth then you are a threat and troublemaker.

Folks, it is very simple. God will take his blessing that He bestowed on the United States and when He does, we will fall.

I have seen many threads in this forum where folks profess their Christian beliefs. Also when the Health Care Bill was passed it was the beginning of the end. I wonder how many on here actually prayed fervently for God's Will to be done?

Here is a little food for thought form 1st Thessalonians 5:12-26. NAS

    Christian Conduct
12 But we request of you, brethren, that you appreciate those who diligently labor among you, and have charge over you in the Lord and give you instruction, 13 and that you esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Live in peace with one another. 14 We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people. 16 Rejoice always; 17 pray without ceasing; 18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 19 Do not quench the Spirit; 20 do not despise prophetic utterances. 21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; 22 abstain from every form of evil.
23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.
    25 Brethren, pray for us.
26 Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss. 27 I adjure you by the Lord to have this letter read to all the brethren.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
