Looking for suggestions on who does lever action work. I got a Rossi Lever action .44 mag I want to get fixed/customized. It has a 24" octagon barrel and a full length magazine that holds 12 rounds. First problem was it's new, not right and I didn't notice when I got it. :xmad: The front sight is way loose in the dovetail, and the first time I shot it, the magazine tube started to creep forward. I was thinking of making it a carbine with a 16/18" barrel and shortening the magazine to right at the end of the fore end. (maybe 6 rounds) I have a mare's leg I want it to match, and a carbine with an octagon barrel just sounds kinda interesting. I know there are specialists, but I was looking for someone in state.

Concept... no, I don't do photoshop...

I don't know where "in a house" Indiana is to offer suggestions.
Come on people is it that big of deal put a location in your profile so it at least shows up under your name in posts?

My nephew bought one of those with the exact same problems. It went back twice under warranty.
Make sure whoever fixes it is familiar with that model. Just my 2 cents worth.

"In a house" is, in this case Remington. Small town up north of Lafayette. It don't have to be in my area. I go to Indy, Columbus, Merrilville... North is better, but not required.

Might see if INGO member AllenM can help you out. He has a Rossi Ranch Hand that he just did some action work on and changed out the front sight.

A second for AllenM. PM him, he'll tell you whether he can take care of it. Allen's work is really spectacular.

if you can't find someone local, might try a Google search for 'cowboy action gunsmiths'. There are guys out there that do nothing but lever actions. -- Greg/Grizhicks

I handled that short rifle a couple of days ago It is a slick little gun now! I've owned probably a half dozen Rossi's and that one feels very good!!
