So an independent investigation (the Republicans hired outsiders to do the review) says Bennett's Education Department applied the rule changes across the board just as he said he did. I guess he has an apology coming from Glenda Ritz(SP?) and her ISTA colleagues. I'll be waiting . . .

Have you ever heard radical socialist Glenda Ritz talk about Tony Bennett? She paints him as Satan himself. Actually I thought he was doing a good thing, making teachers and administrators accountable for RESULTS, not just "effort". But that is a very foreign idea to these people because their INTENTIONS are (in their own minds) EXCELLENT. The fact that kids are graduating who can't read is only the fault of the taxpayers who won't give them an unlimited expense account.

Of course the ISTA hates Bennett, he was trying to make then accountable to the people paying their salaries!

I recall once having an email discussion with a board member of the Noblesville School System. (In my opinion, one of the better systems in the state but not without issues.) This member had made a statement quoted in the paper that said, "...all our teachers are EXCELLENT." I challenged her on this point because by definition, everyone cannot be "above average". Some teachers are better and some are not as good. But she vigorously defended her teachers saying, "...all of our teachers work hard and are performing with excellence." She would not concede that it was possible that some teachers were sub-par. What's the fall-back position? All of the teachers in the system have a state-issued license.

That's Ritz's position as well, a TEACHING LICENSE = EXCELLENT TEACHER. Ok, by that same argument a LICENSE TO PRACTICE MEDICINE = EXCELLENT PHYSICIAN. So are all MD's EXCELLENT? Hardly! So why should we accept that a person who holds a teacher's license is by definition, excellent?

The report found that his office made numerous "mistakes" regarding other schools and their grades. They didn't modify schools similar to Christel, specifically public schools.

So, YES, he was a shady dude and I fully stand behind my dislike for him.
