Lots of fun discussions about gouging, CTD, panic buying, hoarding, and the like. But what is ammo actually worth to you? What would you pay if you lost all you had? What would you pay to get some for your kids that didn't have stock?

I see three prices when I look at the current situation, the super internet deal prices of last year, (seems to be the number many believe is the market price) the typical gun store price of last year, and current prices.

The super internet deal really wasn't that widely available but people sure talked about it to make many believe it was normal.

As as for the new normal (I do not believe we are going back ever) it really is not that high. Some will say it has doubled but that old price they use is the floor of value, likely for ever. It is just self defeating to worry about woulda, coulda, shoulda. Focus on what you need now and how to get it...

Whatever someone is willing to pay, like every other commodity.

    Pretty much this.

It has been interesting to watch the people who are never on the forum save for these times. Times of panic and profiteering. ready to share their stash with those in need.....and at a tidy profit.

Exactly, CM! It wasn't that long ago that many were commenting on how foolish it is to waste your time reloading. How much more valuable their time is than the cost of ammo. Preparation is just that, planning before a possible event happens. I like many have learned the skills necessary to take care of this situation. Others have no choice but to "pay the piper" now. I choose to be prepared.

Whenever people come to me for 9mm saying they want a box, I tell them $50 per box. That's what it would pretty much cost to replace it now. No takers so far:rolleyes:

If I lost all mine now, I wouldn't be buying it by the case, but would just buy a couple of boxes at a time. It would take a looong time to get any where close to where I am now.

I've seen it all over the place .. about a month or so ago I saw several well known sites selling 5.56 nato for $2 a round and then a week later was seeing about 50.cents a round and now I think im seeing around 20 cents? But I do remember 12 cents a round early last year.. over last 2 years I've spent on life time stock up of components and non perishable food items, canning goods.. were looking to get a deep freezer so I can load it up with deer and wild bore... I dont think any of this is going away, in fact I think its only going to get worse. If we lose the senate we will see the same slow and tragic decent into socialism as Venezuela and some others have seen...

Same here save for a few very close and deserving friends.
Many requests. All refused. As they were warned this was coming but still bought only what they intended to shoot.
Now they are freaking. NMFP as I tried.
My situation exactly.. I did share some 9 with couple of dedicated new students for $15 a box. Selling for a profit is not me but I didn't envision selling at all. My plan was/is to have what I need to shoot when I want. I'm not looking to sell and I consider it a commodity now just like gold or silver.
To answer the question I look on Gunbroker when I'm curious what the going rate is. That will give a real time view of the market.
