...I am a volunteer with the NRA Institute for LEGISLATIVE Action after all.

This is where I mention Heller, McDonald, and Bruen. Suing Illinois, NJ, Maryland...

We need to mass the forces. There's a lot of gun owners but this is like herding cats.

Thank you for your service to our Second Amendment sir!

Hopefully, the never-NRA crowd will now step up and put their money where their mouth is?

Show the NRA with numbers and dollars, that they got their wish that Wayne be gone. Show the NRA that they can do more than whine about Wayne's suits. Show the NRA that it can be brought back to what it once was before they neutered it...
...the ONLY Second Amendment lobby of consequence.

Saying we "got our wish" is sorta like saying your Kung-Fu skills effectively ended an attack, when in reality the attacker just got tired of curb-stomping you and decided to go get a beer instead.

Wayne was a 74 year-old Sea Lamprey who finally dropped off the fish because he couldn't suck any more. The NRA Board did nothing - nothing - to bring this about. If the Bylaws allowed this to happen once, it can happen again.

LaPierre zipping up his pants and walking away is a relief, but certainly not a victory.

More to the point, his corruption trial is scheduled to begin shortly, and I am no expert on Golden Parachute employment contracts, but strongly suspect the timing of his departure was recommended by his legal counsel to make sure all Golden Parachute clauses could be triggered and fully-executed before he can be fired for-cause. A lot of crap is getting ready to be made public in this trial, and it is going to make the NRA look absolutely terrible. It's going to be the worst several weeks of media embarrassment the NRA has probably ever suffered. It's going to be an Epstein-list of lavish perks and conflicts of interest, and LaPierre and the NRA probably mutually agreed that inserting the word "Former" in front of "NRA EVP" in the resulting news coverage would probably result in less damage for the organization.

To be fair we were the “no more dues while Leisure Suit Larry Wayne is gone” crowd.
Well, I think a lot of folks supported NRA-ILA during this time. The David Contes and John Webers of the world are on our side and we should be thankful for it.

Chris Kopacki (was the NRA-ILA lobbyist before John Weber, now the #2 at NRA-ILA) was here when we needed him too. Next Executive VP??

No. We remember this betrayal literally forever, and criticize them until they make it impossible to happen again. Charlton Heston is dead. Get your heads out of the ground.

The Bylaws need to be ironclad against another fiefdom like this one being created. Then, and only then, does the criticism stop.
Never happy. Moving the goal posts of excuse to bash the NRA. WPL is gone I thought that was what the complainers wanted but now that it happed it isn’t enough?

If NRA thinks they can just scrape the sh.t out of their bed, but not change the sheets, and the members should be happy snuggling up in it...NRA are the ones moving the goalposts.

Furthermore, a rudimentary logic lesson is in order. When someone says, "No money as long as Wayne is there," it does not follow that when Wayne is gone = ok to give money again. It is the common logical fallacy referred to as "Denying the Antecedent." To wit:

"If it rains (Antecedent), the driveway will be wet."

    >>/>> "It _didn't_ rain, therefore, the driveway should be dry." (Doesn't follow - the neighbor's sprinkler could have kicked on).

Therefore, if someone said, "I won't give any money as long as Wayne is there," they are not committed to return support just because he's gone. They have merely identified one condition under which they will deny support. It does not rule out the existence of others.
