I had contacted our resident optics advisor and supplier for some advice to help finish a build. He rather easily convinced me the extra glass I had lying around, wouldn't be the best choice. I took his advice to heart, but wasn't in the position to buy another rifle scope off of him at that moment. Doing what we all do I stumbled across a good wtt: deal on a Vortex Crossfire II 3-12x56 AO 'Hog Hunter" VO mount bundle. It wasn't one that he and I had discussed, but the v-brite reticle had me curious enough to make the deal. I am glad I did, for what I'll be using it for (hunting/LR plinking), it's what I've been wanting in a reticle for years. Clean cross hairs, no MOA/MIL graduations, no BDC, just a clean reticle with a small break in the cross hairs for a dot. The fact the dot can be illuminated was irrelevant to me, but a welcome bonus. It's bigger than I was planning to get, but imagine I'll appreciate it when hunting in low light conditions.
