Production is a double action first shot. 1911's are not allowed there. Some para's that can do Double action first shot would be legal but single action guns are not allowed. Single stack or Limited 10 are the place for those guns.

Thanks Aron, the way I read it was , "no 1911's" in production class.

I now have an official reason to buy another pistol:rockwoot:

Another gun is always a good thing.:yesway:

Para's with the LDA trigger meet the rules and are on the list for approved production guns. But as a general rule you are right no 1911's. I guess that might be a statement about Para's. :)

Looking for a reason to enable another purchase, eh? WE SEE THROUGH YOU! :D

To add some actual information ... if you are set on participating in Production Division ("class" refers to ability/skill level in USPSA), then you will need to acquire or borrow a different gun. All guns used in USPSA Production Division must be on the approved list, which you can find at United States Practical Shooting Association at the link for rules. The most common Production Division guns are 9mm Glocks, for what it's worth.

Or, you could shoot what you have in a division where it's allowed.

The best fit for your Kimber 1911 would be either Single Stack Division or Limited 10 Division. You could also use it in either Limited or Open Divisions if you want, but you probably don't want to do that.

Were I in your position, I'd get a good belt, a good holster, some good mag carriers, a bunch of reliable magazines, and go for it in Single Stack or Limited 10.

Since my 12 year old son will be shooting Production, I figured I would hang close to him since this is our first year shooting.

I will probably pick up another Glock, hopefully a new Glock with the removable back straps for Austin and I can use the Glock 19 we now have.

Hah! I am completely immune to her feminine attributes and powers.

I'm just finally seeing that light at the end of the dark, depressing 1911 tunnel. I must become one with the Glock.

More than one of the statements above is not true! Actually, more than two.

    Heh.

Funny thing is, I've been debating on joining Burl in Single Stack.

Jump on it my friend! It's a tough road to the top of the score sheet though. The old school guys are really serious about it.

Maybe 2010 will be the year I go ALL GLOCK ALL THE TIME!

Hmm, might be some really good guns for sale then?

What was her name again? Pretty sure she was at the house last night. She was talkin' that plastic pistol stuff. I didn't pay much attention.
