    Twenty Two Tactical - Two-Gun - Rules

    Safety Rules and Range Procedures
Eye protection and ear protection is mandatory; no explanation necessary.
Safety rules on the range are non-negotiable and enforced; we will not have a hazardous environment and simply cannot tolerate unsafe behaviors. We thank you for your support in this important effort.

Regarding safety, a great place to start is the Four Fundamental Rules created by the late Col. Jeff Cooper:
    ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED.
Treat every gun as if it was loaded, at all times, no matter what.
Think and BELIEVE every time the gun is handled, it could fire.
NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY.
Be conscious of the direction of your muzzle is pointed at all times.
This includes yourself, any other person, animal, or property.
It DOES NOT MATTER if the slide is open, gun unloaded, or on safe; do NOT sweep people with the gun. This is of particular risk for administrative handling of rifles when racking or bagging your gun and moving from/to the firing line.
KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ALIGNED WITH THE TARGET.
Considered the “Golden Rule”; do NOT let your finger contact the trigger until the gun is on target. Unless you have your sights on the target, keep your finger indexed alongside the gun, not on the trigger.
BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND ITS SURROUNDINGS.
Pay attention to what is going on around your target, in front of the target, and behind your target.
YOU are morally, ethically, and legally responsible for the final resting place of the bullet, intentionally fired or not, no matter what happened.

    Range Rules :

ACC is a COLD range. That means weapons are unloaded except on the firing line under the direction of a Range Officer (RO). You can load your magazines, but do NOT load your weapon until told to do so by the RO prior to your turn shooting. Weapons may be handled or worked on at the 3 safe tables, but NO AMMUNITION is allowed in these areas (DQ). When handling your weapon, be conscious of where the muzzle is pointing and do NOT allow it to cover anyone, even if it is unloaded. Be especially vigilant when putting your weapon in the bag , taking it out, putting it on the rack, taking it off, and moving to/from the shooting position. When at all possible keep the muzzle pointed down rather than up (over the berm) Handle your weapon only in the designated safe area or under the supervision and direction of a Range Officer. We observe the 180 degree rule on the shooting range; if the muzzle breaks the 180 degree line on the range you will be disqualified. Non- ACC members will be required to sign a release of liability to participate. Any questions, please ask a Range Officer and we’ll be happy to help (that’s why we are here). Follow the safety rules above, THINK about what you are doing before you do it, and use good judgment so we won’t have any incidents and everyone can have fun.

    Divisions:

Irons - Iron sights on BOTH pistol and rifle

Limited - Iron sights on pistol, optic on rifle (includes red dots)

Open - Optics on pistol and rifle

    Scoring:

IDPA targets and scoring methods will be used. Down zero area adds no time to raw time, Down 1 adds 0.5 second, Down 3 adds 1.5 seconds and a miss is considered down 5 and adds 2.5 seconds.)
Shoot-throughs do not count for score. Steel knock down plates that do not fall will be considered a miss, with the exception that if they turn 180 degrees to the shooter they will be considered neutralized (RO discretion)

    Penalties :

Hit on a non-threat target - 5 seconds added to raw time for EACH occurence.
A target without at least one round in the down one or down zero will be considered a Failure to
Neutralize (FTN) - 5 seconds added to raw time

Procedural errors: 3 seconds added to time
Shots fired outside the shooting area (each shot)
    Overloaded magazine

    Disqualification will be required for:
    Breaking the 180 degree plane
Negligent discharge - shot fired with weapon not pointed at target/berm or during load, re-load or un-load.
    ANY round leaving the range
Dropping a gun - loaded or unloaded
Muzzling one's self or another competitor - this includes during bagging and un-bagging of firearm
Failing to apply safety on guns tabled or barreled during course of fire
Unsafe handling of firearm - RO's discretion, MD has final say

There will be one warning for a finger in the trigger guard during movement between targets or reloading, the second occurence will result in a DQ.

    Courses of fire:

All C's of F will start at low ready or with gun on table - no drawing from holster required.
Upon finishing use of weapon it must be placed in the designated area until the end of the course of fire, with the safety applied. No COF will require going from one weapon to the other and back. Upon completion of the COF the shooter will clear and secure (bag, case or cart) the weapon in use and if necessary the 2nd weapon under the supervision of the RO. Once both guns are secure the RO will call the range safe and score targets.

Magazine capacities and COF round count

    1) Pistol magazine capacity - 10 rounds - COF max (for pistol portion) 18 rd
    2) Rifle magazine capacity - 15 rounds - COF max (for rifle portion) 27
    ** No Barney rounds

Magazines for each gun may be carried with the shooter (plus the one in the gun) in any safe manner, or placed on barrels provided in the course of fire

Reloads may be performed at any time as long as they are completed safely (RO discretion)
No retention is required - mags may be dropped.

    COF start and finish:

    Start - range commands
"Does shooter understand the course of fire ?"
    "Load and make ready"
** In C's of F requiring use of both guns, the second gun will be loaded, safed, and secured, or on an empty start, just secured in the designated area prior to going to the start position.
    "Shooter ready ?"
    "Stand-by"
    3-5 seconds activate timer

    Finish - range commands
    "Are you finished?"
    "Unload and show clear"
"Pull trigger (or insert chamber flag)"
"Secure weapon" (Bag, box or cart)
    "Range is clear"

Targets will then be scored, pasted and re-set as necessary.
