any opinions on telling le when you are carrying and encounter them? i know most le say they want to know but i cant see anything good coming from telling them. ive had several encounters over the years with le while i was carrying and it seems if they dont know the adrenaline stays on an even level,if they find out sometimes they get a little excited.

Its nice on a traffic stop if you let the officer know and hand them your LTCH with your DL. You encounter that a lot around here. An officer that has been around at all has had that a lot and it shouldn't cause him to freak out. If you just kindly let him know it's more of a courtesy thing. And there shouldn't be a problem unless your warrants pop up! :draw:

I believe in some States ( cant remember which ones at the moment ) It is Law that You MUST notify LEOs that You are carrying
    a concealed weapon .
That is why it is important to know the laws of States that You are going to be traveling in
I have heard that Texas has a printing law if your firearm shows ( prints thru clothing ,vest ,etc ) You can be charged with intimidation

True, but you can have your gun in your car in TX without a permit. That law went through a year or two ago.

they usually give me a bs excuse about a crime being committed and i fit the description so they run me for warrants and priors then cut me loose after they find out im clean. its not as bad up here but when i lived in phoenix it happened all the time.

We've had this discussion on this forum at least once that I can remember. For me, I'm likely to let the LEO know that I'm carrying. I can see why some people don't want to inform the LEO, but I feel it is a respectful thing to do.

I do know that if I get pulled over for a traffic stop in my home county they will know I have a LTCH. So, it would be a moot point. But, if I were stopped somewhere else, I would let them know. I know a lot of people on this forum will disagree with this. I know there are some LEOs that abuse their power. But, it's just my personal choice. I know a few LEOs, and they are good guys and supportive of civilian carry. They also want to go home at night safely to their families.

Offering such information increases the chances of problems.

If they don't have a search warrant or probable cause to search you, it's none of their business whether or not you are armed.

Stanley Goodspeed: "I'd take pleasure in guttin' you, boy. I'd take pleasure in guttin' you... boy." What is wrong with these people, huh? Mason? Don't you think there's a lot of, uh, a lot of anger flowing around this island? Kind of a pubescent volatility? Don't you think? A lotta anger, a lot of "I'm sixteen, I'm angry at my father" syndrome? I mean grow up! We're stuck on an island with a bunch of violence-for-pleasure-seeking psychopathic marines, SHAME-ON-THEM!
