Since ISIS wants jihad, Should the Pope put the call out to all of Christendom for a new Crusade to take back the Holy lands from ISIS?
Oops I mean to protect Christian pilgrims traveling in the holy lands....?

He has that power and authority to do it.

Would Christians from around the world rally to the call? “Deus vult!” translation - God Wills It.

The last thing we need is an actual Holy War. Those are un-winnable.

IMHO: What we really need is assimilation. "Westernize" (for lack of a better term) those who are against us, and they will become us. The easiest conflict to win is one without an opposing force. Start by opening a Starbucks on every 5th street corner.

ISIS represents oppressed people groups.....regarding this Pope, do with that what you will.

Should all Atheist in Atheistdom rally to the call of Sam Harris for science to destroy all religion? Should philosophy be eliminated because Stephen Hawking says science has made it obsolete? Probably not....

For every flaky, off the rails Atheist trying to silence the voices of the non believers of the Atheist Dogma there are moderate voices like Christopher Hitchens and Penn Gillette that take a more live and let live approach....

I can't believe someone thinks the Pope could make a rallying cry and all Christians would rally to his call....It's in the history books (but it's probably not taught much anymore) but back in the 15th/16th century there was a Church Reformation spear headed by Martin Luther that sort of took the wind out of the sails Papal proclamations....
