Another appropriate Freiburger quote for this conversation, “I’m not a hack, but I play one on tv.”

Roadkill is for entertainment, it’s not real life. The cars that David and Mike actually own and build for themselves are 100% legit builds. Proper fabrication, wiring, suspension, built engines, etc. Blasphemi is not a hacked together weekend build. The F-Rod. The Disgustang. Finnegan’s boat Game Over.

It’s fun and entertaining to throw a big block in a Samurai in three days, but that’s not at all how they operate in real life.
    100% agree.

I know this all sounds extremely stupid, but I promise there's a reason for doing any of this work. This is definitely not the engine that's staying in the car at this point.

I have at least one block that needs to be inspected by a competent machine shop before I do anything with it.
    Where should I go?
Your down on the Southside/Greenwood area correct?
Steve Schmidt up on 30th St between Franklin & Post Rd has done good work on a bunch of stuff for me/us over the years. Go to their regular automotive machine shop on the west end of the building.
Quinlin's is well known, although I work with 2 guys that weren't happy with work they had done there (a year or two ago).

Correct. I'll check out Schmidt first. I remember my FiL talking about them. I think I've actually been in the shop years back when we rebuilt my Cummins. (they didn't touch my block, but I was hanging out with my FiL a lot at the time and he had a block or two there)

If Quinlin himself does your work it will be good. He did all my stuff personally as we go back a ways and having some issues with another shop and how I dealt with it was known by a few of the shops around town. He tends to mention it on occasion.

I have been working this week just getting caught up!

The INGO “crack” looks like freeze damage IMO!

I bet money the block would fail magnaflux. Most likely more unseen cracks.

Personally I would ditch it and head to the pick a part and get a seasoned block out of a pick up.

Bingo especially if it is raised up as he thinks it is.
A dial indicator on a magnetic base would tell the truth in this. If it is raised then scrap that one.

Their facebook page isn't what you'd call "Active" but they were recommended by a trusted source and did good work for me. When I dropped my stuff off they had a couple of blown BBC's out of someone's boat, several "BOSS" variety engines, more FE stuff than you could shake a stick at AND (drumroll please) a 427 SOHC motor sitting in their dyno.

    It was nirvana!

Woody is known for doing good work. We've never used him but he has a good reputation.

If you want to spend a bit more and build something serious go see Tony Bischoff at BES. He will make that small block scream and your tires beg for mercy. But, he isn't cheap by any means

Our convertible project is rolling to a close for the season; the IRS is in, the 13" rotors, MACH 1 steering rack and Lincoln PS pump are in. Wrapping up the hydroboost installation, waiting on 1 fitting due here today and then install the pressure line and return line. The new brake pedal is installed and finishing up installing the steering column. I forgot how much fun it is to work under the dash of a contemporary car although 1989 isn't contemporary. Need to add brake and PS fluid and bleed those systems, get it realigned and new cat back exhaust and it's ready to go.

Then back to the Galaxie and racecar projects. Never wanting for something to do, just the coin to do it. :ugh:

My Foxbody looks to be the same kinda burgundy maroonish color. Why did you go with hydroboost?

Finished up the brake install on the convert, bled out the brakes and ps pump and jumped the car to start it (old battery sulfated so badly on the charger that the shop smelled like :poop: for days). Since it was connected via jumper cables to a battery sitting on the floor I didn't drive it but the brief movement and brake application I did do seems to indicate that DAYUM, this thing has brakes! :bacondance: The old original booster, mc and disc/drum setup NEVER felt this firm, can't WAIT to give it a go but first the alignment shop and then get the cat back squared away.

    Wanna race? Lol

My buddy brought the Goblin by today so I could go for a ride. Supercharged 4 cylinder from a Cobalt SS. Thing weighs probably 1600lb before driver/rider. It's absolutely amazing. 20220530_160636.jpg
