    “Chuckie”
‘99 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner, bulletproof 2.7L 4 cyl auto, 4.56 gears, no rust, solid frame, 167k miles. Added 2 Chevy half ton leafs in back with stock HD coils in front with adjustable Bilsteins. Does absolutely everything I ask except go fast, ride smooth, or get good mileage. Lifetime mpg of 17.2, with a high of 25 on a long 60mph road trip, and a low of 9.5 hauling 9k lbs of marble (no not in one trip.) Replaced the exhaust manifold maybe 10 years ago. Put in a budget bluetooth equipped stereo recently. Replaced the windshield a couple times. Run a bottle of seafoam through the engine every 5 or so years. That’s about it. I’ll get someone asking if I want to sell it every so often, but it’s practically a part of the family. I dunno, make me a good enough offer. Ive got a 4x8 trailer for the Palisade, but Chuckie has been invaluable for the Home Depot runs.

My brother had an '07 Focus. I chucked to my dad about what an ugly car it was...

    ...Now I drive one. :n00b:

Bought mine from the INGO classifieds five years ago. It's been a great car for 40k miles. The "Rally Car" is fun to drive.
Neighbor saw me working on my new Ranger and asked me if would be interested in selling my 07 Focus? He manages a trucking company and needs little cars for transfering drivers. So how much is an 07 Ford Focus with 242,000 miles worth? He knows we have been very good about maintaining it. This year, we installed new brakes, tires, coil packs & plugs and now a new power steering pump and belt. Wife wants it gone post haste.

Auto or manual tranny? It is my understanding that some model year Focuses had auto tranny problems?

I'm looking at a 2000 VW Jetta TDI, 5 speed, with 349k on the odometer tomorrow morning. A local mechanic who has been working on German cars in his small shop for about 40 years has been using it as his shop car for the last 60k miles. He wants $800 for it. I figure it will at least make a good winter beater. Those diesel engines run forever.

Four door sedan with an auto trans. The bad trans cars started in the 2013 model year. The trans on this car has been serviced at the dealer on an annual schedule. One local 07 Focus has 400k miles on the original engine and trans.

Not sure I have what qualifies as a daily driver. I have a couple "garage queens" and a motorcycle and I drive whatever the mood of the day is. i.e. during car show season I'll drive the '67 Firebird, if I want a spirited run I'll drive the 'Vette or MC.

I do have a bad weather beater for rain/snow and salty roads season. A poor ole' rusty '01 QX4 that runs great.

Would love to find something like that around here. I don't care about the paint. I can paint. It's the rust I don't want to deal with.
Unmolested long bed are getting harder to find. I work heavy equipment so the interior is getting a little rough; it's truck. We have an informal Saturday morning 'car meet' at a local donut shop; I've turned down a few offers.

Hey, I'm only 120,000 late on my 100,000 mile spark plug change. Actually, they are not too bad. I did 1, 3, 5 and 7 last weekend (#1 had an intermittent misfire). I did 2, 4, 6 and 8 this morning. #8 was the only real challenge. Ring nose pliers are where its at for the wires. They were pretty worn, but only opened from .040 to a bit over .045. These are only the ones I did this morning. #1 was a bit worse.

The smoother idle is very noticeable. It used to vary a hundred or 200 rpm at fast idle (1,000 rpm) and about half that at warm idle (600 rpm). Now it's like the tach needle is glued in place. I don't feel any vibration at idle at all, which I did just a little before. The lack of the "money" light is pretty noticeable too.

Just put into service a 2021 Toyota Highlander replacing 2017 Honda Ridgeline (which I loved) but developed a transmission issue that I didn't want to try to screw with. Nobody could see me for three weeks and then if they could diagnose the problem (no codes were thrown) might be 2 days of 4 months to fix.

Gave it to Carmax for 27,2K, had 90k miles and in otherwise good shape. Dealers had offered me 23-24k. Highlander was a ripoff with 10% added to sticker but I needed a car.

I broke in the garage at the new house with a pad/rotor change and oil change on the 2013 Caravan. Everything went smooth until I pulled off the driver's side caliper bracket. One of the sliding pins wasn't sliding. Can't believe it but I found one at Oh'Reallys.

Just picked this 2014 F-150 up in October. Searched for about 6 months and had to drive to Kentucky to get a decent deal. One owner no accidents and only 59K on it. So far I'm loving the power of the ecoboost and the (3) kids prefer the room over the Honda Accord I had previously. Most of my driving is highway and I'm able to get 22mpg highway with it so I'm happy.

I drive company cars like I have been for 35+ years so I have nothing to share.

Same. Whatever the company fills up with tools and tosses me the keys to, I drive.

Had various Chevy Express vans the first 8 years of my career.

Currently rocking a ‘13 F350 4x4 Ext Cab with a Knapheide box on the back.

Rumor is the department will be moving to the big sprinter style vans next so that will be different.

Oh, and word to the wise on leaving spark plugs in for 220,000 miles. I don't recommend it at all, but I REALLY don't recommend it if you have aluminum heads unless you really, really want to try out helicoils. Luckily, my old 5.3L is the all iron version, so the plugs came out surprisingly easily (had to warm up the truck for 1).
