My daily is a 2003 Mercury Marauder. Just over 214K miles. Had the engine rebuilt at 165K when she jumped the timing chains, and bent some valves on start up the morning after a high speed run on a back country road... lol.

However, she's currently sitting in the driveway waiting on a tow to the dealer. (that got pushed back til this afternoon because of a 2 semi crash on I-65) She has an electrical gremlin with the charging system, and is dead at the moment. Be glad to get her back, she has an awesome stereo. JVC head unit, JL Audio everything else.

I haven't decided yet. If I keep everything else stock, I'll likely buy a kit. I'm toying with the idea of a supercharger so there may be more parts involved.
Gotcha, I know some who have unplugged the Brake Booster Vacuum sensor to disable it. It throws a code though.

Make sure to do the oil pump while you're in there.

My daily driver is a mud colored Tacoma. It's nothing special but it works pretty well for what I need. A plus is that it gets close to 26mpg to and from HHRP which is about 40 miles from home for me

We were on the road yesterday when I popped in and posted this so I wouldn't lose the thread. This is the one I drive the most bit I switch between three trucks. Here are my other two. The blue 89 is the one we are currently driving on our round trip to Port Angeles, WA. In Montana now on our way home. View attachment 165234 View attachment 165236

Both were on Craigslist. The blue one came from a private collection in Niles, MI. The red and white 84 was inherited by a lady in South Bend when her aunt passed away. The truck came from Arizona. I just watch ads and am a patient shopper. The white truck came from Florida...rust free. We just picked it up in March.

    Pretty much Michigan.
Did some big riggin hauling the boss mans dock sections with the little ranger. Pulled surprisingly well for 112hp. They were stacked 9 tall and were touching the front and back of the 12’ trailer.

'88 Escort GL, it was my mom's from day 1; garage queen until 2004. I've drive the wheels off of it since. Original engine/trans; replaced steering box, shocks all 'round, and a fuel pump. View attachment 165994
    Ok. That's impressive.

We had an 84 hatch that brings back horrible memories. A 1986 late July trip to Little Rock with no A/C. The four of us and a week's worth of luggage in a turtle top on the roof. Took is two days to get there.

    Got the truck back today.
    New fuel lines.
    New fuel tank.
New speed control resister for the heater blower motor.
Daughter is all smiles. Her 03 Chevy conversion van trans went out. Its 2500 to rebuild if we bring it to them. Its the 2nd vehicle for them so I just let her drive my truck as I am no longer using it.

This is most likely the only vehicle in this thread that I will ever see. And I have seen it a couple times. :)

I thought I was patient, but I have given up on trying to find an acceptable to me squarebody. Time to stop chasing unicorns.
The prices keep going higher and higher. Hubby was set on a squarebody pickup to replace my rusted out '88. We ended up with the '92 because $3K was sure a lot better than $8-10K for something that needed a lot of work. I then turned around and sold the '88 for $1600 so that made it even more affordable. I think we probably put about $200-$300 in parts in it to get it the way we wanted it. New dash pad, door hinge pins, etc. The brakes were like new. I had new tires and rims on my '88 that swapped right onto it so no extra cash put out for those.

I had an '89 Escort wagon just like this, only baby blue in color, and 5 sp manual. Paid $250 for it around 2004. Hatch was bungee strapped closed, gas tank had a hole in it about 1/2 way up. I beat the crap outa that thing for a couple years, and it just wouldn't die. Ended trading it in for a Jeep, and they gave me $400 for it. Best car deal I ever made.

Oops. Fuel "PUMP".....no idea where tank came from other than they had to drop it and it was over half full so my buddy ribbed me about that.
While I know it's not the fuel pump that went out, but was replaced because of dropping the tank for the fuel lines as a precaution, I don't think I've ever replaced a fuel pump where the tank was under 1/2 full. Never fails. Usually 3/4 or more of a tank. Probably just my luck

Well I have to say goodbye to my baby tomorrow. 2006 VW GLI with a stage 1 tune, putting out close to 250 HP with a 6 sp manual gearbox. I’ve owned quite a few cars, but this was by far the funnest car that I’ve owned. It was pretty fast, and had no problem breaking the tires loose in 3rd gear. Total sleeper.

Unfortunately, the early 2.0T engines were problematic, and I spent most weekends wrenching on it, as it had 190k on the odometer. Had some asshat smack the side of her last week, and it’s a total loss. Tow truck comes tomorrow to pick it up. I have mixed emotions because I hated constantly working on it, but I still loved that car.
