Could be. That would sure stress stuff.

One time a friend of mine was driving on a gravel road (probably picking various gears at random for fun) when the front U-joint disintegrated and the front of the driveshaft dropped and dug into the road. He said the back of the car went up violently and the front bumper was dragging and he thought it might even flip forward but it all came back down and then of course wouldn't go anywhere.
