Can’t figure it would be tougher to explain than Effective Full Power Hours. :D
Not a matter of "tougher to explain" so much as, does anyone really care?

    okay.
    first, what is a "poison"?
A poison is an atom that will absorb a neutron. It will not slow down the neutron (so it can not cause a fission in the future). It will not fission.

Now, there are several types of poisons, one of which is a "burnable poison".
A Reactor has an excess amount of reactivity. You don't want to start fission, and then it's all burned out in a second. So poison is used so that you can load extra reactivity.
Some of these are burnable poisons, loaded throughout the fuel cells.
As opposed to the poisons in the control rods, which are concentrated in the rod, the burnable poisons are loaded throughout the fuel.

One little point - in the reactor, fission is going on all the time. The poisons control the fission rate. The fission you don't want is uncontrolled fission - it gets too hot to contain and you have a melt down and if there is critical mass you have a nuclear bomb.

yes. And I forgot to mention, as the reactor fissions, causing there to be less reactivity over time, the poisons (burnable) become less also.

As opposed to control rods, which maintain their poison (mostly) over life.

I don't have the patience to dig for an illegal immigration thread so this goes here. The article says cartels are making $400M, that's million, A MONTH smuggling people across the US border. This administration is helping to fund central American cartels. They should be tried and hung, all of them.

Out of curiosity, is there anything to prevent the senators from hiring private security people to deal with the bathroom busters and boat chasers?

If she does, wonder how would the militant Biden voters spin it?

I hope she doesn't, the drama does well for us. Those nutjobs have no clue about how foolish they look dogging Sinema. They are like ANTIFA, believing that they are heros, while showing their lunacy.

I couldn't figure out where to put this, but it makes me so happy, that I had to put it *somewhere *.
