It worries me that we become so afraid of something that we don't want to teach it. Ignorance has never been a solution. It looks like its a part of flags of different nations, so it's asking them to develop a flag that shows thought into what items would represent socialism or communism.

Here's the problem. Many schools are teaching both sides. It goes something like this: Socialism/Communism good, Capitalism bad; Islam good, Christianity bad; unions good, "right to work" bad.

That would certainly be a noble goal. I fully support teaching students about the various forms of economic and political systems, assuming they're done objectively. But I'm at least cynical that is the goal.

Knowing progressives have infiltrated and metastasized throughout the education system, I'm inclined to assume the worst.

We never spent a bit of time in sixth grade talking about world government or economics. We did, however, spend several months on the Holocaust. Not really sure why it was necessary for it to be such a focus at that time.

Not sure if anything I learned in 6th grade really shaped my life or my political beliefs. But then again, I can't think back that far.
