I think the senate will approve the measure. He's not going to hit any road blocks till it gets to the house. Even though Boehner is in favour of it, I think there may well be a good amount of opposition in house. I'm hoping they're the monkey wrench in this matter.

We shouldn't attack even if there is a coalition and the UN did get behind it. It's none of our business.

    This. /\

We get blamed for everything bad anyhow......... let them step up and make it happen if they are so into it.

President pass the buck is already blaming the rest of the world for the red line comment, he can skate right out of this one.

Well, Obama and congress didn't follow through, (thankfully) but now poison gas attacks have reared their ugly heads again in Syria. Of course the Assad regime is saying they didn't do it, (just as they did last time) despite the fact that they're the only ones with aircraft in this mess and the delivery systems. This things going to grind on for years there and any moves in the UN will be blocked by Russia.

So ISIS does not have both Iraqi and Syrian jets?

Former Iraqi pilots training ISIS fighters to fly captured Syrian jets, rights group says | Fox News
Looks to me like ISIS has jets.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights—an opposition group based in London—ISIS has managed to acquire three Soviet-built Mikoyan MiG-21 Fishbed and MiG-23 Flogger fighters. The aircraft are allegedly being flown by former Iraqi air force pilots, who are also training wannabe ISIS aviators to fly the jets. Additionally, ISIS appears to have a number of Aero Vodochody L-39 Albatross aircraft, traditionally used for advanced training and light attack. The terrorist group has produced at least one propaganda video purported to show the Czech-built jets in the air.

You kind of implied Assad did use chemical weapons before,it looks like the UN investigation found otherwise. It was the rebels last time, and probably is this time as well.

United Nations human rights investigators said Sunday they have gathered testimony from outside Syria suggesting rebels, not Bashar Assad’s regime, may have used chemical weapons.

“Our investigators have been in neighboring countries interviewing victims, doctors and field hospitals and, according to their report of last week which I have seen, there are strong, concrete suspicions but not yet incontrovertible proof of the use of sarin gas, from the way the victims were treated,” Carla Del Ponte, a member of the independent commission of inquiry on Syria, told Swiss-Italian television. “This was use on the part of the opposition, the rebels, not by the government authorities.”

Then of course you have the threatening videos posted by the rebels using chemical weapons on animals.
While President Obama is busy talking about Syria’s chemical weapons, a troubling video appears on YouTube yesterday showing what appears to be a rebel group testing chemical weapons on lab rabbits, and threatening to use them against Syrian civilians on a sectarian basis.
The video (see here) starts with several scenes showing chemical containers with Tekkim labels (Tekkim is a Turkish chemicals company) and some lab equipment, while playing Jihadists chants in the background. A glass box then appears with two rabbits inside, with a poster on the wall behind it reading The Almighty Wind Brigade (Kateebat A Reeh Al Sarsar). A person wearing a lab mask then mixes chemicals in a beaker in the glass box, and we see some gas emitting from the beaker. About a minute later, the rabbits start to have random convulsions and then die. The person says:You saw what happened? This will be your fate, you infidel Alawites, I swear by ALLAH to make you die like these rabbits, one minute only after you inhale the gas.
Judging from the rabbits’ reaction, the gas must be a nerve agent. The number of containers, if not a bluff, indicates ability to produce a considerable amount of this gas. Deployment could be by means of a smoke generator placed in the target area, an explosion, possibly a suicide one, of a ”chemmed” car, or simply by using a humidifier
