I have owned several other brands of saws in my life. Stihl is the finest in my opinion, my first was a used saw (015) which I still have and it cuts as good as a new one. It is so old they have discontinued a lot of the parts for it.

my dealer network is the internet.....never seen any Husky parts at RK?

I buy a lot of stuff on the net but it doesn't do any good if I need the part in the next day or 2. If you need any more than a bar, chain, plug, or air filter, you'll likely not find it in a box store.

Now that I'm better at filing, I might have better luck with Oregon. They just didn't seem to stay sharp as long as the Stihl chains. Nothing personal against Oregon the company.

My 25" chains run $25-30 each depending on the delear so I was wondering if there was a better option out there.

How much does your local dealer charge to sharpen chains?

Mine charges $6.95 if its under 20 and $8.95 if its over.

It was a little more than that, I believe. They didn't cut well at all. The teeth were blue and had burs on them.

You will find that not many people can sharpen correctly with a machine. They leave the disc engaged on the tooth too long and takes the temper out of it.

YOu would be money ahead to use a file and touch up as needed. The one I posted earlier in this thread is an excellent tool.

Those are some valid points. I had one touched up today and he seemed to know what he was doing. There wasn't any burs or discolor on the teeth.

How many times can you sharpen a chain?
