You don't understand. If all drugs were legal to buy and sell, then all of the people working in the illegal drug trade would immediately get jobs as hairdressers or window washers and would be tax-paying. lawful members of polite society.

It's just like how the mob completely vanished after prohibition.

    :lmfao:

We do tend to forget that. :D

Hmm. Wonder what happened to all of the people working in the illegal booze trade when prohibition was repealed.
Everyone knows that prohibition did nothing to spur huge increases in organized crime.

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. - John Adams

This is why our country is now like it is. Religion and Morality has been bankrupt for years. When Americans lose their Morality they will need a totalitarian police state to govern them because they refuse to govern themselves.

How did that religion and morality work out for the slaves and the natives? Kinda confused on the timeline of this so-called bankruptcy.

Yes it did. Then it went away after prohibition. I said that.

    .
I've often wondered if they legalized, taxed and regulated what are now illegal drugs whether we wouldn't replace one bureaucracy with another. Growing tobacco, distilling spirits or dealing in firearms is legal but regulated.

Would making drugs legal cut down on this nonsense? I'm tired of paying to police it and paying to clean it up and paying to jail it and having to worry about getting caught in the cross-fire.

Don't be so quick to assume / presume that it's "outsiders" coming in.

The OC has a HUGE meth problem. Cookers and users. And everything in between. It's also one of, if not the poorest county in the state (historically speaking).

It's also very rural and I can guarantee that there aren't that many Sheriff's deputies on duty at any given time (which leads to rural issues) and I can also guarantee that the Paola PD also isn't very large and also doesn't have that many officers on duty/on patrol at any given time.

The OC's problems aren't specific to the OC, either.

Yes, place was a **** hole before the casino moved in. I presume that it has gotten better. Last time I was there it was very nice. Although who knows what it looks like just out of the money zone. If it wasn't for the casino, I would suspect it would have slid quicker in to a war zone with meth the way it is.

I agree. I'm in the the county to the west and this is not typical. Somebody will talk if it was local.

It's certainly not frequent and I'm pretty sure this was a first at that Walmart but both Orange and Martin Counties have had more than one shooting previously. Between the two it seems that one occurs about every 3-5 years.

My bet is it has something to do with drugs.

I had to visit one of the churches here in Lawrence county a few weeks ago. When I arrived (during the week), the doors were locked tight and had to ring a door bell to get someone to let me in. The lady reminded me a couple/few years ago, there was a shooting (shots fired--don't think anyone was actually shot) in their parking lot, so they've been locking down ever since. I remembered that and they think it had something to do with drugs. And this was out away from town a bit.

Who knows what kinds of business gets done in every Walmart parking lot, all across the country.

I do "security" I was at the Safeway, at 25th and Sherman .......

ALL Kinds, of "deals" going on in the parking lot .....

I just have to be ready, no shots fired, I am ok .....

Call po po, 10 to 20 minute wait .....

What do they have a volunteer police department?

The Sunman Town Marshall has a better response time? Like I said a few pages back, Grandma lived in Orleans, this stuff didn't happen when Grandma lived in Orange County.

Paoli doesn't have a 25th and Sherman intersection nor a Safeway so I'm pretty sure he was talking about Indy... and likely exaggerating the slow response time a little bit.
