And what's your back stop? You trust that your shot would hit only him and not go beyond? What if you miss?

Am I the only one uncomfortable with the circumstance put forth above?

(Not in reference for 1500 and never have carried there) No offense but I don't care about the back stop if it would be a matter of life and death for my family. I would go :ar15:.

    Where's the bacon?
    THIS IS NOT HAPPENING!

Agreed. One thing INGO's owner and mod staff pride ourselves on is that "board wars" may be permitted elsewhere on the 'net and even encouraged amongst some sites, (many of which are not involving firearms and are related only in that they are also on the internet) but we don't participate in them and when we find the beginnings of them here, we put a stop to them.

Please consider Que's post and mine to be in-thread warnings that this one has had a stop put to it.

    Blessings,
    Bill

Although I am not a proponent for reporting what is said on an internet site, please know the promoter and chief counsel for the show are members on INGO. :twocents:

Good, hopefully they will read this and put some barrels for everyones safety at the entrances, it's a easy thing to do, having a safe place to unload/load is a great idea!

SJ and anyone else, please correct me if I am wrong, but I have seen safety barrels at every show I've attended. They are normally located to the left of the doors as you face the entrance, at least in the other building that was the case. I utilized the vendor door this year and I didn't see any there. So, are you sure the barrels were not at the front door this time? If not, maybe it was an oversight. Either way, barrels should be at both doors, vendor and patrons.

Did you really just type that?

You are responsible for every round that leaves your gun.

I also saw a lot of offduty police officers carrying. The rules of the show state that unless the cops are on duty and working on or near the show, they should also disarm. How many LEOs waved their buddies through the line after a badge was flashed because "they were the only ones pro-fess-nal enough to handle their glock fotays." As far as I know, State Smokeys, on duty Marion County and IMPD are the only ones who can carry per show rules but I saw at least three other agencies carrying without zip ties with presumably loaded handguns.

How many off duty cops carried concealed in plain clothes to the show? This is a rhetorical question.

I've never seen sand barrels at the 1500, all I ever see is the big orange sign, if there are barrels then I thank the promoter and I will use the front door even if I'm vendor, I have no problem unloading my gun as long as there is a safe place to do it

I would suggest that the policies in place at the 1500 have far more to do with the possibility of liability than they do with concern about safety.

And yet all four people who've been shot at the 1500 were shot by dealers...

Number of violent attacks by punks in the 1500: 0.

I guess the system works. The punks are afraid of getting shot.

First off, I can go through countless threads on any gun related forum and see that people ask whether or not they should carry somewhere that a sign or rule is posted telling not to, AND THEY STILL DO IT AND JUSTIFY IT WITH THE SAME REASONS HERE!!!!

The whole, the mall has a no weapons sign and at least 50 posts after that of people saying screw their rules, the 2nd amendment this and that. We have all made that argument.

Secondly, I can even begin to count how many patrons I've seen that have loaded mags in the show (that is a clear violation of the rules too by the way, so when you un-load your gun, and enter the show and don't show the inspecting officers the mag with rounds loaded in it in your bag or pocket, YOU ARE VIOLATING THE RULES! NO LOADED MAGS IS A RULE.)

Third, after this thread I am very closely contemplating on not setting up at the 1500 ever again. I understand they have the rules in place for my and patrons of the show's safety. Although I choose to follow them and unload my firearms during the show hours, as soon as it is over I am loaded up on the way out door.

But know this if I see or a customer hands me a loaded mag asking if I have one like to fit his gun. I will ensure the promoter tosses you for violating his rules.

We literally have a target on our back after the show. While it hasn't happened to vendor I am aware of at the 1500, it has happened at other shows (My very first show, a vendor was followed back to his hotel and beaten and robbed). Us vendors spend the weekend with our head on a swivel hoping that we do get something stolen this, is very exhausting to say the least. Secondly, the amount of business mean we do will mean we have some amount of cash on us upon exiting the building.

Now I am no criminal, but a tired, cranky, (and according to the rules of the show) unarmed person(s) with a crap ton of cash and/or guns is walking to his vehicle after the crowd has dispersed seems.... well you get the picture.

Last words to me by a Officer at the last 1500 on Saturday night, "Hey you guys think you could hurry and exit the building, so I can get home myself." now his statement has informed me he as well is tired and cranky and less concerned with my safety and more about getting home. Where as my actions and mindset are in a I hope we get to the car and hotel safely.

One more to chew on, my vehicle went down this 1500, had my homies not been following me another car, I would have been sitting on Binford Ave. with cash and possibly unloaded firearm. Hell, I called at least 5 people who lived in Indy for help, and not a single one answered!

If you have a loaded gun period, and I mean period at home, work, school, arby's, or where ever else... Don't touch it, unless you intend to destroy whatever you point it at, even if is at you! It's one of those rules, usually listed around the trigger one, the eye pro and ear pro one!!!

I will gladly go through a pat down and have my bags searched prior to entering the show to ensure I have no loaded weapons or magazines, as long as everyone else does too vendors, patrons, show staff, and all person besides On Duty LEO's. If given a proper and safe area to reload upon exiting, then I will. If unable to provide such a area, I will ask for an LEO escort to my vehicle and off the premises at the close of the show each night.

I have no problem leaving loaded mags in my vehicle and taking my handgun inside, zipping it, and storing it securely under the table, but when we left the show on Friday evening, there wasn't any kind of police presence anywhere in the parking lot that I saw. I was parked across the street and had to load up in the parking lot. I don't like that at all. Granted, I was carrying very little cash myself, but vendor safety seemed like an afterthought.

I think that the main reason that the rules are in place is for liability protection, rather than for the safety of the vendors or attendees. Could I have carried a loaded weapon safely in the show? Undoubtedly. Would I rather carry my weapon as I usually do instead of unloading and reloading in the parking lot? Yes I would.

Jahred's situation with his truck could have been really bad. Especially since he probably left the ACR at the booth. I would never want to be stranded on Binford Ave with cash on my person.

I make holsters, and I had one guy walk up to me at the show, lift up his shirt to show me his loaded G26 and then produce a loaded mag from his pocket to ask if I had a mag holder that would fit it.
