I have an old 12 ga plain barrel for my Mossburg500/Maverick 88 that I would like to have cut down from 28" to 18 1/2 " so that I can use it on my HD shotgun. Can anyone in the Indpls area help me out with this? Glad to pay you for your efforts.

I'd saved this thread for a 30 inch barrel but haven't addressed it yet.

I echo what ACC and flightsimme said, buy a new 18½" Moss 500 barrel or just cut it yourself. Buying a barrel will give you a pre-installed front sight. If you do DIY cut it, then buying or borrowing a facing cutter will make it look pretty. Good luck & stay safe!

If you do this, BE SURE that you are using a METAL BLADE and your cut in on the outside, (muzzle end) of your 18 1/2" mark. When you are done there will be burs around where you cut. Any metal object larger than the 12 gauge bore will work fine to de-bur the rough metal both on the inside and outer edge of the cut. Then be sure to smoothen all areas of the cut, run a piece of cloth through your barrel from the breach to the muzzle to clear any metal dust or shards. THAT will cost you, $.00
