I have a shockwave in 12gauge that I want to use for home defense that I have
sbs'd but I am having some issues with light strikes frequently(5-6/25rds).

I am wondering if it has a weak firing pin spring? I am going to take it to a gunsmith, but didn't know if any of you guys/gals has had same issue and/or fix. thanks

Mine has never failed to fire, or have issues with light strikes.
Then again, if it went boom, I likely didn't check the primer(s).
    I don't shoot handloaded shotshells.

My first guess would be gunk in the firing pin channel.
How many rounds has it got on it?
Had it ever been completely stripped and cleaned?

Good luck, and be sure to revisit this thread when you get it figured out.

i did a field strip when purchased to get all nastyness off from manufacturer and oiled it. Cycles smooth with no misfeeds.
All the rounds have been factory no reloads; under 150 rounds shot. I was able to get the light strikes to fire on the second try.

I would try spraying a buttload of degreaser/cleaner in the bolt, blow it out with air, and drown in a good gun oil of your choice.
    Repeat as needed.

If they only happen periodically, it's not a broken or chipped firing pin.
I suppose a bent pin may cause a similar issue, but I think the culprit lies in the firing pin channel.

so I took it apart and removed the firing pin, didn't look bad/damaged. cleaned the heck out of the bolt and firing pin channel and oiled it. when cleaning, some debris came out but not a whole lot. fingers crossed this cures the problem.

now just need to take it back out and test run it.

I have run everything from those minishells to high brass thumb busters and never had the first issue. Mine is from the very first run from Mossberg. Mine had a weird film almost akin to light cosmolene protecting it but a can of chlorinated brake cleaner and then lubed with nano oil after the degreaser evaporated. Talk about gunk!

I had the same issues with those mini shells as well. They were the first ones I had issues with. That’s when I tried regular 2 3/4 shells, same issues.

Hopefully this cleaning will get rid of this and I can trust it to use it for my home defense shotgun.

If you are still getting them the next step I would check would be the hammer spring.

Be sure to let us know.
It really doesn't take a great deal of gummy gunk to start things sticking and moving slow.
Cold weather can exacerbate the issue.

Just to br clear, you oiled the firing pin and channel, or the bolt in general?
Oil on the firing pin / in the channel can cause drag on the firing pin

    This. It should be dry.

I have one. It is a hoot to shoot. I have ran 2 boxes of the short shells threw it s well and a assortment of others. No issues. Something is wrong for sure.
