What will be your minimum and max shot range?

What price range do you consider mid to high?

Do you want to dial for range, or hold for range?

I am very new to scope info, I don't know enough to know what I don't know, guess I want something that will challenge me and be able to learn and grow with...

man your really making it tough on me.

Just off the top of my head with learning in mind and a 20 inch 700 in 308 Id take a look at this

Vortex Optics - Viper PST 2.5-10x44 EBR-1 MOA

The price is 599 (im not sure if you think thats crazy cheap, or crazy expensive), and it has a measureing reticle (in mils or moa) and external turrets. It tracks perfect so you can learn the measurements side of it, and dial for range. This scope will get you out to 1000 with ease

Buying a scope....one of my most painful endeavors...

I wish it were easier to settle. I'll second the suggestion of the Viper, they are hard to beat for the money.
