Saiga 12 conversion

A friend of mine is doing a Saiga 12 conversion. After moving the trigger forward, there will be holes left in the receiver that he plans on plugging with the included grommets that came with his kit. I was wondering if you do any tig welding or other solutions to fill in holes like that. Thanks in advance.

It can be done with a MIG too.
