    I almost agreed with you last night....but then I remembered who I was going to agree with and started drinking.

    My initial is yeah you are right...it hurts to say so let me take another sip so I can suffer memory loss....

    BUT the signal was originally transmitted and you are now listening to it. So the question really becomes do I want to be the TEST case for your interpretation. I decided no. How about you?


    It's repeated from a different format, the device receiving the original radio signal is the radio capable of receiving the signal, which the audio is sent to a separate device.
    If it was sent to your TV as audio that doesn't make your TV a device capable of receiving police radio traffic.
    The cell phone can't DIRECTLY receive the signal, no matter what app you have installed.

    Rabbit hole: I guess if you can hear the scanner traffic at all you are "technically" in violation of the law since you are receiving the signals.

    I bet if 20 people responded to the knuckleheads unholstering their pistols, by bringing their guns out in their general direction, the mayor would be screaming for action.
