This ones more of a fun comunity get together. Preppers Thanksgiving is a pitch in dinner of all prepped or fast (hunted) food. we have several different ways to warm or cook if needed then just sit back and enjoy the company. Keep an open mind and you never know what you'll learn or from who.
    Enjoy & See You There,

Anyone want to take a Ham class and the test ?

    Indiana Self Defense

Monday, December 2: First half of HamCram

Both the second and the third will start 6pm.Please be on time ! Class will ne 3 to 4 hrs
Know it is short notice with tough time frames but this will come in handy !

What I would really like folks to do is download HAMCRAM2010r0.ppt from index and study it a several times before the classes. This will allow us to move a little quicker. And Timing is going to be key to success. Any other studying between now and when we have the class won't hurt either. Trust me a little prep goes a long way .

I might have to find some time one weekend to drop by. I live in Anderson so i'm a little ways away. Sounds like a nice little store. I love supporting family owned businesses.

For those who plan to attend the HamCram session and plan to take the test, Please be aware of what you need to bring. Since you will be applying for a Government Grant to operate a radio on the amateur radio bands, my team will need sensitive personal information. Rest assured, all this information is secure, sealed within 2 hours, and is forwarded to the FCC within 24 hours. No copies are made and All documentation is mailed to the FCC.

I will need from you the following:

    1. A legal photo ID (driver’s license, passport)

    2. If no photo ID is available, two forms of identification:
    a. non-photo ID/driver's license (some states still have
    them)
    b. birth certificate (must have the appropriate seal)
    c. social security card
    d. library card
    e. utility bill, bank statement or other business
    correspondence that
specifically names the person; or a postmarked envelope
addressed to the person at his or her current mailing
address as it appears on the Form 605.

    3. Students may bring any of the above items and/or a school ID,
minor's work permit, report card, or a legal guardian may
    present a photo ID.

    4. Social Security Number (SSN) or your FCC issued Federal
Registration Number (FRN); VEC’s are required by the FCC to
submit either your SSN or your FRN number with your license
application form. If you prefer not to give your SSN at the exam
session, then you may register your SSN with the FCC before
exam day. Once you have a FCC issued FRN, you may substitute
it for your SSN on the application. For instructions on how to
register your SSN with the FCC and receive a FRN, visit the
FCC's FAQ page and the FCC's registration instructions page.
Please do not wait until the day of to apply for a FRN. Do this now.

    https://apps.fcc.gov/coresWeb/publicHome.do

    5. If applicable, bring either the original and a photocopy of your
current Amateur Radio license, or the original(s) and
photocopy(s) of any Certificates of Successful Completion of
Examination (CSCE) you may hold from previous exam sessions.
If your license has already been issued by FCC, the CSCE
showing license credit is not needed. The photocopy(s) will not
    be returned.

    6. Two number two pencils with erasers and a pen.

    7. A calculator with the memory erased and formulas cleared is
allowed. You may not bring any written notes or calculations
into the exam session. Slide rules and logarithmic tables are
acceptable, as long as they're free of notes and formulas. Cell
phone must be silenced or turned off during the exam session
and the phones' calculator function may not be used.
In addition, iPhones, iPads, Androids, smartphones, Blackberry
devices and all similar electronic devices with a calculator
    capability, may NOT be used.

I would suggest folks go ahead and get their FRN at the above mentioned FCC site.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks for the info Krogo. One question. I'm looking to take this test and I was thinking that it was the starting point for amateur radio. Are we supposed to have some other certification before taking this test?

    Pudly,

Not at all. This class is most definitely the first step. That list is my form response to those who ask about testing. If you were upgrading ie.. from a Tech to a General, #5 would apply.
