    Buddy Holly still gets covered.

1984 I was a the cars, talking heads and Van Halen fan. Was forced to attend my first dead show downtown Indianapolis at the sports and music center.

Five years later and I had seen them play over 30 times. Brent Midland was the keyboard player during these times. Jerry was in better health after a diabetes coma. By the time the 1990’s came around the crowds changed and shows were good but not like the mid 1980’s shows. I was in orchard park when this was recorded.

Buddy holly’s not fade away again the worth the listen for the band to crowd last 90 seconds alone. There are some other shows that had a better version of this. Normally much more drum related but this one is good enoigh

I like the original Plastic Bertrand back in the day... but this is much better, though not the best video quality:

This cover was originally supposed to feature Dolores, but the night before they were to record, she tragically died.
The band decided to go forward with the recording and donated the proceeds to her family.

    Johnny Cash:

    Willie Nelson:

    and . . . there are others!

First time I heard it was Johnny Cash on his TV show; but I'm partial to Arlo's version.

You like the song, but not the version that everyone else seems to like.

For instance- Slade's version beats Quiet Riot.

What are other songs everyone has heard, but you think the best version isn't the one you always hear?

I have always preferred Slade's version of this.

And Roy Orbison's live version of Pretty Woman put Van Halen's to shame.

And ELO had the best version of Roll Over Beethoven.

Africa by Toto, covered by Weezer(ft. Weird Al):

    And covered by Leo:

Ok, this group's catalog may not be for everyone, but they do some pretty awesome covers on a few cover-only albums, and the vocalist is amazing. Also, their Africa cover came out just a little before Weezer's. NSP then challenged Weezer to an "Africa-off" on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro to prove who had the better cover, and Weezer never responded. I guess they win by default?
